It was late at night and after dinner and a little bit of shopping, Jacob, Emily, Sophie, and the team arrived at the apartment complex which looked like a giant wide black LEGO piece with balconies on the sides, only you couldn't see what the balconies looked like from where they were standing.

"Well, this is the place," said Jacob as he opened the door for everyone.

Once inside, the lobby was quite glamorous, staff going back and forth and what not, they walked up to a hyena receptionist who already knew the group would be coming. After checking in, we all went our separate ways, as in going to our separate rooms. While in an elevator that was headed up, A tugging at Jacob's shirt grabbed his attention and he looked down to Emily.

"Yeah, What do you need, Emily?"

"I just wanted to talk to you in private once we reach the room." Her voice held some seriousness and Jacob firmly nodded his head.

They arrived at the floor and got off the elevator and made their way down the hall until they came to a door that said "104" on it. Looking down at the information the mayor had given them, Jacob took out a key and unlocked the door, none of them could have expected what they saw. The main room was absolutely stunning. If any millionaire had a fancy house or apartment like this, this is what Jacob would have expected to see.

Emily was in utter disbelief, she honestly couldn't believe that her new home was a fancy rich place like this, she really wanted to decline the idea of staying here, but then again, where would she go, she had little money and she couldn't afford to stay at even the cheapest motels in or out of Zootopia.

"Hell of a place, even us Marines don't usually get the luxury our Air Force chums get," Jacob said while chuckling, seeing how many Marine and Army personnel would be pissed about their new abode.

The living room which they first entered was not as classy in comparison to the kitchen. Three ovens aligned the walls for cooking, the fridge and freezer were colored silver along with other stuff, some things like cupboards and shelves were a dark oak brown.

To put it simply, everything about this place was luxurious, from the fish tank that stretched from room to room, leading up to the living room ceiling, to the furniture and enormous flat screen television, it was like a dream come true.

Never before had Jacob or Emily dreamt of living like this, but right there before them was everyone's dream house, or in this case, apartment. Jacob was reading some of the features of the room and to his surprise, the super large flat screen television and speakers he was looking at could be set to full volume and not even anyone could hear them due to the soundproofing of the extra layer of the building above and to the side of every room.

"Mommy, mommy, mommy, look at this!" Yelled Sophie from another room.

Following her voice, Emily went to find her while Jacob read some papers about the apartment complex. The one thing that shocked him was that if you were a first responder in any way, your job would pay for room services, WiFi, and other bills like that. Not being the guy to just sit around, he would at least pay for some of the stuff, he was still grateful after all.

Putting down the note, Jacob made his way to where he last heard Sophie's voice. When he came up to a door, his jaw hit the floor, a decent sized pool was stretched out in front of him. The windows near the edge of the balcony seemed to be controlled by a switch on the wall whenever cold weather hit. He opened up the door to the pool and immediately regretted not bringing his bathing suit.

Jake had learned from Emily during dinner, in Zootopia, the seasons still could change even without mammal-made habitats.

Speaking of Emily, she was relaxing on a beach chair while Sophie watched a movie on the TV inside, Emily really needed this as much as Jacob did. Jacob, not wanting to interrupt her peaceful moment, just stood there thinking, Emily did tell him she wanted to talk in private.

"Hey, Emily, you still want to talk, we can talk in the bedroom If you want."

Nodding her head, she got up and motioned him to follow. Making their way past a distracted Sophie, they entered the bedroom, it was a standard King size bed.

"how did they know how tall and large we would be?" Thought Jacob as Emily sat down.

"So, what did you want to talk about with me, Emily?"

Emily took a deep breath before telling Jacob.

"Is it true that you've killed other mammals in your job?"

"Well, I mean, we are soldiers..."

"Yes or no," she said sternly, cutting Jacob off.

Jacob sighed deeply, knowing she wanted the straight truth. "Yes, I have killed other people, but do you know why I do it?"

Emily stayed silent and shook her head, letting Jacob continue.

In war, it's technically a bunch of young guys fighting for a bunch of older guys' fights.

"I fight so that tyranny and terrorism doesn't take over, that and to make sure everyone wakes up knowing that they are free to make their own choices."

Emily stayed silent, registering everything Jake had said to her. Seeing he had no ill intentions and was not some crazy warmonger, she nodded.

"So, can I ask you a question?" Jacob asked, knowing what he was going to ask was rather pushing the limit.

Letting out a soft sigh, Emily nodded and gestured for Jacob to continue.

"What happened between you and your husband?"

Emily's eyes turned into slits and her fists balled up. Seeing this, Jacob tried to calm her down. Memories of her past rushed back into her head, as much as she tried to forget them all. Calming down she began to tell him her story.

"Me and my husband Marcus were a happy couple, I was six months pregnant."

"Marcus had been gone for days, he said he had some business to take care of at work, I had begun to worry for him, so I decided to call him before I would alert the police about his disappearances."

"After countless phone calls, I decided to take matters into my own paws. I traced his phone's location to a small house, we both fell deeply in love with each other, we had a great relationship going."

Emily started to break into sobs at this point and Jacob put a hand on her shoulder, nodding.

"but when I looked in the window of the apartment, I saw him kissing another vixen."

My gaze fell down to my boots, I knew what she meant by "kissing another vixen."

"So, in other words, he cheated on you, didn't he?"

She sadly nodded. Deep down, Emily swore she would never fall in love again, all she needed was her daughter and that was it. Jacob walked over to Emily and to her surprise, he bent over and pulled her in for a hug. Emily wanted to escape his hug, never wanting affection from a man again, yet she felt safe in his embrace.

She only came up to his hip so he had to kneel down to give her a hug. It was at that moment a unforgettable friendship was born.
