❝ I loved you in secret.
First sight, yeah,
we love without reason. ❞{《☆》}
Lighting your candle, you watched the flames flicker slightly before they grew. You wiped at the glass, cleaning off some of the soot that marked it carefully. The red wax was a nice choice, you decided. You'd have to thank Theo for the gift, your best friend certainly knew how to pick good candles.
It smelt like vanilla and coconut. Which was a surprisingly nice combination. You weren't all that into candles, but you had to admit that they were nice. Both the smell and the general fire aspect. Arson is truly amazing. You've always had a thing for arson, truthfully. So did Theo now that you thought about it.
"Y/N!" Theo crashed into your door, giving a muffled whine. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. A small thud and you already knew they had fallen to the floor. Opening the door, your disgustingly theatre-kid friend was dramatically lying still on the floor.
"If you're dead does this mean I can get your Kermit painting now?"
"Don't you dare—!" They gasp, crawling forward so quickly that you didn't have time to even blink before they attached themselves to your leg. "If you even dare I will haunt you in the afterlife!"
You mock sigh sadly. "It seems I'll never get rid of you. "
"You're stuck with me, darling. Server to server, I'll always be there." They smooch their cheek to your leg, making a fish face up at you. You roll your eyes and start the slow walk, draggg with them still attached to your leg back in your room. When you're in the middle of it, you realize you haven't asked him why he came in running. "So, bitch boy, what'd you need from me so bad?"
They blink and finally let go of your leg. "Oh, yeah. Well, I was wondering if we could have a movie night tonight?"
"Sure," It would be fun to have a slow night. Rewatching the same three movies every time was a bit awkward but you still enjoyed all of them. "But you have to make the popcorn."
"Ugh," Theo groaned, flopping back against the floor. "You've killed me."
"Good, I was planning on taking Kermit either way."
"Wha— Y/N! What the hell!"
The movie ends two hours later and you lie in bed, stomach full of too buttery popcorn and happy all the same.

They say that when you dream, it's your subconscious trying to tell you something. To show you parts of yourself you can't see when you're awake. Desires, wishes, the past, or on rare occasions, the future.
It wasn't a surprise to the spiritual when hundreds of years ago, people began developing a special type of dream. But scientists were baffled when slowly, more and more people began finding others in their dreams. Soulmates, many called them. Potential family, others said.
The youngest was someone at age 7 meeting their fated best friend for life. But they were an oddity and so as humanity evolved, people began recognizing patterns. Young teens were the most common times, but early twenties seemed to be often enough. You go to sleep and wait until you fall into the dreamscape as many called it.
Every night, for random intervals, you were given a world of your own to explore and live in. A new home, a safe space for people, and common ground.
Eventually, you'd meet your soulmate there. No matter what, you'd see them eventually. They'd be a blurry face at first, a stranger whose defining features were nothing but pixels to your eyes. Names were sacred too, secret to one another with tongues glued to the top of their mouths whenever anyone tried.
