That night, we were all silent throughout the night, no one said a word. Yana and Hialeah took care of Gunnar while I lay beside Milla, imagining what it would be like to have a perfect family. I had nightmare that night, a figure of shadow chasing after me in the forest where Gunnar was born. I hid under the rock beside the river, I remember feeling my heart beat so fast like it was trying to escape my body. The shadow creeps up behind me and grasps my shoulders, as I try to escape from its wrath, I look back and see Chief LeSharo grinning from ear to ear as if I was his next meal. I run as fast as the wind, trying to not fall over the clutter of vines and leaves of the forest floor, and as I reach the end, there was a ravine. At the corner of my eye I see my father laying helplessly on the cold hard stone ground, his lifeless body makes me start to cry. As I try and reach for his body he seems like he is moving farther and farther away from me until he is no long within my sight. All I remember was the heartwrecking sight of my father dead on the ground. I couldn't sleep at all after that nightmare, I would sit just outside the cave in which we take shelter in, I would hold my mother's necklace and reminisce about the happy times we had as a family. I look back to see my siblings sound asleep, they look peaceful and innocent.
From a far I see a man on a horse riding his way towards our cave, I hurriedly woke Aashna up and my siblings.
"Leo! Where's Aashna?" Jairus asked as he gets off his saddle.
"Jairus? Oh darling! Are you hurt? How is grandpa? Your sisters?" Aashna asks as she emerged from the cave.
"We have to get going, the canyon tribe is ambushing the camp, we have to take the children to safety. We will travel to the island, where Gabriel is, tell him Jairus sent you."
"What? Arent you coming with us? He's your brother after all, please Jairus come with us."
"No, not until the fight isn't done. Someone has to get revenge for killing my sister, my family. Get the children to safety, the boy – he is after him. Take care of him, I promised Marinna." Jairus says as he holds Aashna's hand and gives her a kiss on the head.
We hurriedly left our own little camp in the caves, six children and Aashna, I thought to myself how would we ever survive if we were ambushed? I try to take my mind off the thought, I sat beside Hialeah and asked her, "Leah, how's Gunnar doing?"
"He's okay.. I wish mother was here though, he looks so peaceful as if he doesn't even know yet that we are all orphans." , Hialeah responded sadly as a tear dropped from her eyes.
Aashna looked back and overheard what we were talking about and said, "No ones an orphan my darlings. I will be your mother now, I know that it is not the same and I am really not your Mother. However, I will protect you and love you as my own."
I really like Aashna, she is so beautiful and young, her personality and loving nature truly embraces of a mother's caring and loving personality. I believe that our new lives will start fresh with her, she will heal our wounds and scar from the events that had scarred us siblings.
