SING ME TO SLEEP -- neil perry

story update

hi guys, i just wanted to let you know that in all honesty this story isn't really gonna get updated for a while. it's been really stressful for me recently thinking about how i'm obliged to update this story since i have all readers, but i've actually realized that i'm not really in the dps fandom anymore and i'm just not super interested in continuing to write the story. there's definitely a chance that in a few months, i'd continue to write it. however, i just wanted to say that for now we're taking a very long pause, because, especially with the end of the school year coming up, i have a lot of work and i'm in a different fandom now, so i've been doing more writing for that (none published though.)

For now, I'm gonna leave you guys with what I have written for the end of this book and my chapter plan, just so that if anyone wants to finish it or know what was going to happen. You have my permission to continue the story on your own, but you must give me credit, and obviously don't upload my work anywhere else!

Thank you guys so much for the support you've given me up till now and I'm really sorry if I'm disappointing anyone by ending this. I just really needed a break from thinking about it. Love you all!

chapter plan:

13- neil goes home to his family for thanksgiving, gonna have to come up w some scenes for this

14-after traumatic weekend with his father, neil gets the part in the play and then there's the class with poetry sharing, i'll actually include some others especially neils which i'll write myself and it'll be kind of obscure but you'll see that he really likes todd in it and todd might realize something too

15-another dps meeting charlie plays the saxophone and then small scene where knox calls chris not that important+jesting class w conformity and walking around

16- todd and neil deleted scene where todd helps him study for the play. at thsi point neils realized he can't avoid it and if they can't be together at least they should be friends. then they walk back to the castle and it's dark. neil goes up to the room and when he comes back down to find todd he sees him standing on the bridge alone w something in his hands. birthday scene happens and when they're laughing loudly neil hears todd say really quietly "will you kiss me?" and neil hears him and neil is like "do you really want me to?" and todd is all shy but he says yes. this is gonna be set around december 15th ish

17- neil really doesn't want to go home for christmas and his friends all decide that it would be better for him to not go, so they come up w a plan where he says he wants more time to study and they all stay at the school together. there's a big christmas party at school and afterwards, they all sneak out to get drinks and todd and neil sneak off so we're gonna have a lot of content with them here

18- dps meeting w the girls and the charlie's phone call w god and he gets in trouble which then leads to neils dad coming and getting mad at him. neil is up in his room extremely upset and begins crying. it's late bc he just got back from rehearsals and todd comes up and comforts him. this is the scene where i'm going to incorporate the song todd sings him to sleep w/ the song bc neil had said it's his favorite and then they fall asleep together

19- neil takes todd's advice and goes to talk to mr keating abt it and he feels comforted, but in the end knows he can't actually talk to his dad, so he lies to mr. keating. he also tells todd that he got his dad's approval up in the tower and they sit their happy and talk and count the stars, but neil feels really guilty about lying to him, he doesnt say anything though

20- neil does the show, sees his father, doesn't have a chance to say goodbye to todd. basically the end of the movie, but neil survives. he wakes up in the hospital and todd is there. conversation btwn them. final scene with todd standing up on desk because mr. keating still gets fired for influencing students badly. this scene is in todd's perspective for the first time in the book.

Favorite scene in last chapter:

"Why wasn't I enough to make you stay?" Todd looked at Neil, his eyes wide and sad.

"You were, you were so much more than enough. But I was never going to see you again. You were being taken away from me. I couldn't live with that!" Todd nodded, and Neil knew he understood. He sat down on the edge of the bed, making a dent in the covers so that Neil was close to him. Todd took Neil's hand in his and looked at his wrist.

"And what about these scars? How long have you been hurting yourself?" He looked sad, but not for himself, it was more as if he thought that somehow it was his fault, and Neil couldn't let him think that.

"A few years, probably since I was a sophomore, but when I met you, it got better, for a while. You've always made everything seem easier, happier."

"You could have told me." Todd looked disappointed.

Neil looked down at his hands. "I know."

"And when you were hurting the most, you pushed me away, why?"

"I was scared of falling for you. I knew it wouldn't work out and I didn't want to break your heart.."

"Fear is just a part of love, and one thing I've found, Neil, is that love's what you deserve"
