"No, no. You take him. I already have Holly." Was the last thing Yoongi said to Hoseok, seconds before he walks out of their apartment and his life.

They adopted Milo two years into their relationship, when Hoseok feels like they're ready to expand their household but Yoongi doesn't want children yet. Milo was an anniversary gift. Hoseok didn't have the heart to tell Yoongi he was thinking about cats when he mentioned expanding their household.

They were happy, and to this day Hoseok believes Yoongi truly loved him. He is perhaps even brave enough to admit thinking Yoongi didn't fall out of love with him, that Yoongi loved him even when they were saying their last goodbyes. He used to think love is enough, love can get you out of anything, love is all you ever need, even in a world of pain. But the truth is love isn't enough. Love is enough only in fairy tales and fictional happy-ever-afters. There is no such thing as a happily ever after, no such thing as a perfect relationship, and it takes way more than love to keep two people together. If life is a window, then love is the glass. Love is fragile without its frame, without trust, time, and communication. He forever is thankful to Yoongi for teaching him that.

Life was shit for about two months after their break up. It physically pains Hoseok to see a happy couple and he struggles to listen to music because it reminds him so much of Yoongi. He thinks he is overreacting; breakups happen every day, you don't have to lose your mind after it. But Yoongi had been his everything and every plan for his future included him. How was he supposed to move on and be okay just like that? His sister came over a lot, helping him with household stuff and taking care of Milo because Hoseok couldn't bear to look at the pup without remembering Yoongi, how he treats Milo like his child, how he loved him so. If Yoongi's aim was to make it impossible for Hoseok to forget him, he had succeeded through Milo.

"Yoongi" is the name that comes to Hoseok's head whenever he sees Milo. But he has to pull through and rebuild his life. He can't let everything he ever worked for crumble and fall to the ground over promises of love. He began dancing again. Hoseok never realizes it, but slowly he's getting over Yoongi. He will never truly fall out of love, as Yoongi is his first in a lot of things and with Yoongi it feels like love is all he needs. There are moments when Hoseok couldn't remember his life before Yoongi, and his plans before Yoongi was in it, but slowly he's starting to let go and hold his own hand to reach a future he made by himself, for himself. His heart-shaped smile returns, brighter than ever.

He realizes Yoongi turns to nothing more than a beautiful memory from the past when he wakes up in the morning with Milo next to him and thinks of all the memories he himself made with the dog. No more Yoongi, no more clinging into an old reality that won't ever come back. He is alone now, and he is perfectly okay with it.

"Good morning baby boy. Did you sleep well?" Milo responds with a bark.

He sees Yoongi in the coffee shop he frequents that morning, in line to grab his coffee. Hoseok looks at him and smiles, getting a smile and a nod back before he walks out of the shop, the short encounter not leaving him shaken up and hurting as it would have a year ago. They're okay. They've moved on, and Hoseok is happy for both of them. Truly.
