Satan hated everything. If anyone claimed to be more furious than him at that moment, they were sorely wrong. The red underlord screamed into the swirling void and clawed at his skin, black eyes flashing at whatever seemed to be hiding from him. To put it simply, Satan was in a very, very bad mood. He had been sucked into the void once again and now he had nothing to do except scream and wait and hope that wherever he popped out, it wouldn't be as bad as some of the times before.

The demon lord snarled at the flickering lights. He had not realized that they had shifted from the void lights to electrical lights. Satan stared at them as they spitted light before glancing around himself. It didn't seem like he had been put anywhere too damaging this time. Cubicles surrounded him, and a peek into one showed a computer, phone, headset, and family pictures carefully arranged on a desk with a chair tucked underneath it. It looked like it had been used recently, even though dust hung heavy in the air. He peeked into another cubicle nearby to find a dusty desk and an overturned chair. The computer screen was cracked, and glass from a photo frame scattered the desk and floor. The flickering lights glinted against the glass annoyingly.

With nothing better to do, the demon lord let curiosity take him and wandered to peek into different cubicles. Some were nearly empty with only a uselessly bent chair or desk, while others looked almost normal except for the dust. He continued until he found one cubicle that had been basically destroyed. The walls were bent and broken, the desk had been broken in half and sagged depressingly, the chair's legs were broken and looked like they had caused some of the damage. A photo frame sitting at the crack of the desk held many ripped pieces of a photograph. Another photo frame on its back and on the chair held part of a ripped photograph of a dog and the (he assumed) owner's arm. A quick scan showed the other part sticking out from under the mangled computer on the floor. He hesitantly reached for the slip, carefully bending and stepping forward while trying to avoid the glass. He pulled it out and backed out of the cubicle. A glance behind him showed where the battered phone had ended up.

The photograph slip seemed relatively normal. A woman's grinning face was covered by a red X. Satan wasn't sure if it meant the target had been eliminated or was next on the list. Either way, based on the damage the cubicle had sustained, it didn't look like she would survive whoever was after her. The flickering lights finally stopped but plunged Satan into complete darkness. But the dark lord had night vision. What deity wouldn't?

Wrapping his fist around the photograph piece, Satan continued his journey around the office. He did not bother to check the other cubicles, but at the same time he was insanely curious who or what still regularly came here. Without intending to, he headed back to the first cubicle he had visited. It took longer than he thought it should. Once he got there, he immediately plucked a photograph off of the desk. It was a family shot of two mothers, one kid, and two dogs. Strangely enough, one of the mothers looked like the woman with the red X over her face. Satan studied it carefully and began to think up explanations. But before he could even start on one, a pop and an ahhh sucked him away and back to his Hell.

And oddly enough, Satan was angry about that.
