I wait patiently for the bus

I wait patiently for the bus. I cannot be late on my first day, I think. I sigh in relief  as I spot the bus. I step into the bus and quickly grab a seat in the back.  I leave the window open to get some air in. Breath in, breath out, I tell myself. I always get nervous on my first day. I feel my stomach doing somersaults , electricity going through my teeth.

I put on my Samsung Galaxy Buds+ BTS edition. I have been stanning BTS since I was 13. I stan other groups like Tomorrow X Together, Enhypen and Stray Kids. I put on a song and close my eyes. It is my first time in Seoul, a place I have dreamt to be in. It is also my first time away from my parents. I'm 18, I should know how to handle myself, but the thing is that I don't.

I try to imagine what will happen in school. Will people accept me? Or ignore me completely? I purposefully agreed to go to a Korean school so that I can be more comfortable with my Korean. I can sort of speak.

I watch a group of girls and boys enter the bus. They wore my same uniform. They must be in my school, I think. The group of the boys walks towards the back. I pull my bag closer to give them space.

There are three boys. All of them are so cute, honestly. I personally think Koreans are damn cute. I admire them for a while. I stop when I realize one of them is looking at me. I look away with my face burning. So much for first impression, I tell myself.

I follow the girls and the boys out of the bus. The school is quite big. I wander around the floor trying to find my class. The corridors are filled with people. I spot the lockers on my right. Maybe I'll find my locker there, I look around and spot mine in the corner. The same boys from the bus are crowding near my locker.

Should I ask them to move or not? I think. Maybe they will. Or not. Should I ask in Korean? How do you say 'please move'? Agh I don't remember!

"Excuse me," I finally say. "can I please open my locker?"

"Oh sure," one of them says and pulls the rest of them away.

Whew, I sigh. That was easy.  I grab my stuff for the class and again go back to finding my class. I finally find it, 12-2. I walk into the class. Girls are chatting in groups in some tables, boys are throwing paper planes in the back, this is a perfect classroom. I talk a seat in the back near the window.I love sitting in the back, because form there, I can see everyone, but no one can look behind me.

As I wait for the class to start, I observe the class and managed to catch some Korean here and there. Suddenly I find a paper plane coming towards me. I catch it before it hits my eye and look around to find its owner. Near the entrance, a familiar boy stood waving his arms at me. "Pass the plane!" I send the plane towards him. He mouths me a thank you. I nod.

As the teacher comes in, the class greets her. "Good morning, class," she says. "I hope you had a good break. Before we start, I would like to introduce our new student to you all. Neha. Please introduce yourself."
