The waves crashed against the sand as she danced along the beach. She bounded from rock to rock. She collected the most elegant of sea shells. She was a dream within a dream. Dreaming was her passion, an unintentional passion. And did she got lost in it.

The dream was brilliant, but sadly, it was almost over. For her alarm the birds would start chirping, any minute now. Her dream was ending, and as the waves engulfed her, she took a deep breath and got pulled under. She lost all contact from air. Mere moments from death, she woke up. Her eyes fluttered open and she awoke to the beautiful sounds of birds singing their morning songs. She leaped up, knowing that every morning this happened to her and every night she had the same dream.

She got up, and strode happily up the hill near her current place of residence. It was early. Just slightly before the first light of day burst through the clouds. She was one to watch the sunrise. She sang songs every morning until the dew sparkled with fresh sunlight not yet filtered by heat.

It was around 6 in the morning, she stopped and returned to her home, the bridge. She ate what she had or found, she then dove into the lake by the bridge. The dark chilling water slid along her skin washing, giving life and cleanliness to her filthy body. She would then relax on the hill near the bridge allowing the morning sun to whisk away the dampness of the lake and the chill of the night. The Californian sun was one of the warmest and brightest, therefore doing its job perfectly.

When she had finished, it was about noon. She was starving but poor, didn't have enough money to buy food. It wasn't her fault she did not have any money. Her parents died years ago. Tomorrow will mark ten years after that date, but it was also her birthday. Not a very great sweet 16.

She hiked to the nearest corner store wearing the largest hoodie she owned. She walked down the isles and picked up a tiny carton of milk, she shoved it into her hoodie pocket and did the same with a granola bar. She attempted to slip out the back door but the alarm sounded.
"Shit!" she gasped in annoyance, taking off in what appeared to be the safest direction. Within the six years of her stealing from this store the alarms had never gone off before! She ran as fast as she could, she was good at running, but when she turned around to see if the store clerk was still chasing her she tripped and fell over. She scraped her knee pretty badly, and a rock had stabbed her in the leg. She picked the rock out but her leg started bleeding really badly. She took off her shirt so all she had on was her hoodie, she wrapped the shirt around her leg and tied a tight knot.

She stumbled towards her place under the side of the bridge. She was going bleed out, and soon. She knew she needed to go to the hospital, but she also knew she could not afford treatment. Plus if they asked her what happened, she could not risk admitting her crime. She also could not risk them asking for emergency contact information, seeing as she had no one.

There was a clinic about a mile away, knowing she had to walk she stood up. Instantly, an agonizing pain shot up from the wound through her torso and neck, straight to her head, giving her an almost unbearable migraine. She nearly cried out, but bit her tongue.

She stumbled down the street getting weird glances from passers-by. By the end of her journey, she was in so much pain she was crying. She was muttering small words of encouragement to herself.

She pushed the door to the clinic open so hard it hit the wall, she then collapsed on the ground in exhaustion.
"Call an ambulance, fast!" yelled the man behind the reception counter.
