Detective Willis stepped into his office.
"Nothing," he said quietly.
"What?" One of his work coworkers asked.
"Nothing! We have absolutely nothing!"
The worker chuckled."That's not true sir, just listen to the tapes and you'll find a lot of evidence."
Detective Willis glared at the assistant. "Why should I waste my time? You're the assistant, you do it!"
The man grinned widely.
I have, and here's a list of all the evidence."
The assistant then handed detective Willis the list they compiled from Allen's interview and Astrid's latest interview.Detective Willis picked up the list and squinted his eyes to read it, realizing that he should have brought his glasses. But as soon as he glanced down at the paper the writing was extremely illegible, almost making it impossible to read.
"What we learned:
. Astrid and 'patient a' are half-sisters (same father)
. Astrid knows 'patient a's'name but won't say it
. 'Patient a'didn't talk to anyone besides allen since her parents died
. 'Patient A's' parents died 10 years ago
. When ' patient a' slept over Allen's house she stayed in Allen's wife's bed
. Allen's wife is in Texas visiting her parents
. Allen's wife was supposed to come back that night but she didn't
. Allen met 'patient a' because she was his patient
. The reason she was Allen's patient is because she had tripped and fell she had hurt her leg pretty badly.
. She got hurt because the corner store clerk was chasing her
. 'Patient a' went to the corner store at least once a day but she stole every time
. The reason the store clerk turn the alarms on was because he knew patient was turning 16 and he thought it was time for her to grow up
. 'Patient a' has only lived under that bridge since she was 10 but her parents died when she was 6""We need to call back Allen," Detective Willis decided after he finished reading his assistance notes.
"Then do that, sir."
By the time his assistant had agreed, the phone number had already been dialled and was ringing.
"Hello, Detective Willis?"
"Hi, I don't have much time, but what's your wife's phone number?"
"Why?" The disembodied voice of Allen questioned.
"Just trust me."
