Dojah felt a little better after a nice, warm shower. Hesitantly, she checked her phone. Nothing. She knew it. She knew Johnny was just trying to get off the phone then to block her. Tired of it all, she shut her phone off and through it in the drawer next to her bed. The hotel room was lonely. Dark. Quiet. Still wrapped in her towel, she combed her hair then turned on the tv and the lamps. She sat at the edge of the bed, watching some of the show that was currently on before going to get dressed. As soon as she was about to get up, there was a knock at the door. Dojah looked at the clock. 8:54 P.M.
"Isn't it a little late?" She thought to herself, standing up and holding the towel tightly. Another knock startled her again.
"Who is it and what do you want! If it's housekeeping, I swear-"
"Doe, it's Johnny."
Dojah froze, her eyes widening in panic, realizing she was still in just a towel, "Oh shi- hold on!!" she shouted, running to her suitcase, rummaging for her robe. She found it, throwing the towel in the bathroom and quickly slipping it on. She pushed her hair back, taking a deep, shaky breath, then opened the door. She stood halfway behind it, looking up at him nervously and awkwardly.
"Oh I didn't mean to bother you from your shower," Johnny chuckled nervously.
"Y-you're fine. Do you want to um, come in?"
"Really? I mean uh, yeah sure. Thanks," Johnny smiled softly. A smile that melted Dojah to her core. God did she miss his smile. Yeah he has such a tough exterior, not letting anyone in, but his soft side is something so rare for others around him, and Dojah was lucky enough to be one of the few to see it. She shut the door behind him and turned, standing there awkwardly as he kind of scanned the room.
"This is a nice hotel, huh?"
"I guess," she shrugged, smiling a little. He sat at the edge of the bed, observing what was on the tv. Dojah shifted on her feet a little. Johnny looked over, feeling the awkward tension and silence.
"Why ya standing over there, looking like a lost dog? Come sit and talk. I haven't seen you in....well, forever, it feels like."
Dojah looked around the room, avoiding his stare.
"Doe, come on. I know what I did in the past but, can we forget it for a few hours and catch up? Where's the tough and blunt girl I knew?"
Suddenly, it hit her again. All the stress from the divorce, trying to find a place to stay, money to budget. She broke down again, seeing Johnny really topped the cake and broke the dam. Dojah fell to the floor on her knees, face in her hands as she sobbed uncontrollably. Johnny got up and ran to her, not knowing what to do. He's never seen her like this before and it completely tore him up.
"Hey, hey hey! Doe, everything's alright! Did I say something?"
Dojah shifted into his arms, crying in the crook of his neck. Johnny was completely in shock over her broken mold. All he could do was rub her back and let her finish. Dojah pulled herself together, trying to calm down, now feeling embarrassed to show her weakest side yet. In front of Johnny Lawrence of all people. She pulled away a little, wiping her eyes and catching her breath. Johnny grabbed her cheeks with both hands, rubbing her face with his thumbs and wiping away tears. Dojah kept her eyes down, not wanting to look him in the eye.
"I heard about the divorce. I'm sorry, Doe."
"Don't be sorry. It's good I got out of there-"
"Did they hurt you?? I'll kill a son of a bitch!-"
"Johnny! Please! No they didn't, but if I stayed, they could've."
Johnny sighed in relief, pulling her close. They both know they haven't seen each other in a while, but their physical contact felt like they never left each other's side. His warmth radiated off of him, causing Dojah to ease into his chest.
"I'm sorry you have to see this side of me. I can't always be the strong girl."
"No one is expected to always be strong. It's okay to let things out."
Dojah was shocked at his response. The egotistical, strong guy just admitted that it's okay to not be strong sometimes. She pulled away, realizing they were still on the floor. She noticed Johnny's eyes shift from hers, to slowly trailing down. She followed his eyes and noticed her robe had opened a little, exposing a lot of cleavage. She quickly covered it, clearing her throat awkwardly.
"Why don't I go get dressed and we can sit down and talk? I have ice cream and-"
"No no, leave the robe on. Let's go sit down and talk," Johnny smirked a little, trying to look innocent. Dojah rolled her eyes playfully, punching his arm. He pretended it hurt, grabbing his arm.
"Damn! Still got that right hook, huh?"
"Yeah and I can Cobra Kai your ass any day, Lawrence," she winked, getting up and grabbing the tub of ice cream and two spoons. Johnny smirked, watching her behind as she did so. He sat on the bed and watched her walk over.
"Yeah. Sure, Doe. I'll I have you pinned in a matter of seconds. You forget we trained together."
Dojah smiled and sat next to him, handing him a spoon, "yeah but I was more badass."
Johnny scoffed, "no you weren't!"
"Ah, there it is! The egotistical asshole, Johnny Lawrence, I knew back then!"
"Shut up-"
"Or what?" Dojah challenged, taking a bite of ice cream, her eyes burning holes through his. Johnny narrowed his eyes.
"Don't tempt anything, Doe."
Dojah laughed, punching his arm. Even though they hadn't seen each other since their breakup, it was like the bad memories were never there or never happened. People do change and past is past. Forgive and forget. Dojah was nervous about seeing Johnny again, but now she feels foolish for being so awkward and worrisome.
