"you're..." you felt tears brim in your eyes. "you're calling off the wedding?" you croaked out. you looked up at kou.

"sorry, (Y/N). i can't marry you" he said as you felt tears roll down your cheeks.

"why?" you asked. he just stared at you, not seeming to care that you are breaking down right in front of him.

"i have never loved you. i could never love someone like you" he said as you felt like someone was stabbing a million knives through your heart.

"w-what?" you barely managed to spit out. we have been together for 7 years and he's never loved you? you don't believe him. we are soulmates; we are meant to be together. kou has always had your heart. he was your first love and you were hoping he would be your last.

"you're too clingy and you make really bad jokes. you love too hard and it's kind of a turn off. you've also gained weight. it's gross. quite frankly, you're not attractive to me anymore. you just aren't the same person i met in high school" he said as you shook your head. you grabbed his hand and held them tight.

"i-i can change, kou. please, don't walk away from me" you begged. he aggressively pushed your hands off his and grabbed his bag. he turned around, facing his back to you.

"you can keep the ring. it wasn't even that expensive" he said as you felt your lips tremble. "goodbye (Y/N)" he said as he walked off. you were frozen in place, to shock to run after him. was there really nothing you could do to make him stay? is he really walking away from you? you heard the front door open and close as you instantly fell to the ground, your whole body shaking.

******** 2 weeks later ********

you grabbed the last box from the moving truck. since kou broke off the engagement, you were left alone in a big house that you couldn't afford yourself. so you decided to have a complete new start for life. you quit your job and moved to the city, where you rented out an apartment with someone who was looking for a roommate. you haven't met her yet, but she sounded really nice on the phone. her name was kohana and she was only 2 years younger than you. you walked up the stairs and set it down on the ground, taking a small break. you didn't realize how much stuff you actually had. you sighed as you opened the door and pushed the box in with your foot, too tired to pick it up.

once you got the box inside, you shut the door and sighed again, placing your hands on your hips as you stared at the space. although it was small, it was beautiful and decorated beautifully. there were lots of plants everywhere but you didn't mind at all. it fitted the space perfectly. you walked over to your room, where you saw all your boxes, piled all over your room. you cracked your knuckles and cracked your neck, rolling your head in a circle. you're going to go through these boxes and see what stays and what gets donated.

it took you 2 hours and you only unpacked about half of your stuff. deciding what gets to stay and leave turned out to be harder than you thought. you heard the front door open. your heart fluttered as you quickly stood up and fixed your hair. you're so nervous to meet your new roommate. you always had a hard time making friends. in high school, all you had was kou. you walked out your room and walked over to living room. you saw a girl standing in the kitchen, looking through her mail. wow, she was absolutely gorgeous. she had dark short hair and had a lot of tattoos on her arms. she had a perfect figure and very good fashion sense. she looked up at you and gasped.

"you must be (Y/N)!" she smiled as she placed her mail down and rushed up to you, wrapping her arms around you. "i'm kohana. it's so nice to meet you! i can already tell we'll be great friends" she said as you softly smiled.
