The sounds of waves crashing on a beach woke Maria up instantly.

She shot up, studying the area around her.  The beach looked strangely like Sentinal Beach from TPL, with its cliffs and the ship sitting in the bright blue water. She felt the sand beneath her body, the soft grains slipping through her fingers. Maria saw a bag, brown with two straps and patchy. She looked inside, to see all of her notebooks, pens, design bibles, maps, a sleeping bag, her phone, her iPad, laptop, a stylus, a sketchpad, a proper pack of pencil crayons, her keyboard and some blank notebooks. She blinked and pinched her arm, snapping at the pain. This is so cool! She thought, smirking and turning her phone on. It was a solar charged phone, as with her other devices, so it had infinite charge. She changed the camera to selfie mode,  and what  she saw made her heart stop.

Her normally clear face had pimples all over it, but her eyes pierced her own soul. Her short, shaggy hair was slightly wavy, and her grin was cheeky, evil and goofy at the same time. Her ears were long, like all the character's ears in this universe. Her hair had natural highlights, and her face seemed slightly more oval shaped. Her once straight, shapeless body had hourglass curves, and she definitely had more boobs. She was wearing foot wraps (She didn't complain about this. It was more comfortable than anything ever) and thin, tan pants held up by a dark brown belt with a silver buckle. Her shirt was a bit short, as she could see her stomach when she stretched, but a nice purple color with black tints. There was a pair of gauntlets on her arms, the surprisingly soft leather strong and stretchy. Her forehead had a weight, and when she checked there was a pair of goggles there. Her glasses were still on her face, and not broken, to Maria's relief.

"Hey, Jak! Come here!" A familiar voice called. Holy crap, this is really happening, isn't it... Two teenagers ran toward Maria, and she tried to act as casual as possible. This was Jak and Daxter, the three times saviours of Haven City, and the world. It was like meeting your favourite celebrity, because that's how she felt. Her body felt weightless, and she almost fan girled efore she stopped herself. "Who are you, toots?" Daxter tried flirting, of course, but Maria thought for a split second. She loved these games, and she always wanted this to happen. She never did like her name, but she did like the name Artemis, and the nickname Artz. "Artemis, but my friends call me Artz," She answered, grinning.

"Well, why are you covered in sand?" The red head asked, and the newly named Artz had to think quickly. "My father was a fisher from across the sea. We got caught in a storm while we were fishing together, and our boat got destroyed. I think that my dad drowned, because I saw his body sinking," She faked being upset, thinking that she would tell them later. "And I somehow managed to drag myself onto the beach. I ended up passing out, and woke up a few minutes ago." Artz made her voice break, looking down and 'sniffling'. "Well, sweet cheeks, until we find a way to get you home, short, green and wrinkliey ought ta take you in for a bit, isn't that right, Jak?" Daxter observed, patting his friend on the shoulder. Jak nodded, smiling lightly. Wow, it's amazing to see Jak before he gets twisted by dark eco... she thought nervously as the duo led Artz through Sandover Village, to the Green eco Sage's hut. Climbing up the planked walkway, they entered the hut.

"Daxter! You didn't mop the floor properly, and now there's going to be- who's that?" The short green man switched moods as soon as he saw her. She waved, grinning sheepishly. "Artemis, but please, call me Artz." The dirty blonde teen said, scratching the back of her head and telling her fake story. Samos seemed genuinely upset at her story, and Artz felt sad and dishonest. "Well, if you must, you can stay here until you can return home," he said calmly. "And Daxter, water my plants!" His attention switched in a split second, and she thanked him for his hospitality. Jak grabbed her arm, and led her outside. They went to the part of the beach in front of the farmer's house, and sat down. "Sorry if I talk too much, slap me when you want me to stop or something I guess," Artz said. "Because I honestly don't know when to stop."

They - or just Artz blabbing on and on - spoke until Daxter came over to them carrying what looked suspiciously like three cookies. He handed them to Jak and her, and kept one for himself. She was able to confirm that they were chocolate chip cookies, and everything was quiet for a moment. The sun was setting, and they simply spoke and ate and spoke some more, before they decided to go back home, although Artz didn't have a home. She was just staying at Samos' hut, as a temporary house guest.

Even though it was only seven fifteen, according to her phone which she kept hidden, she collapsed on the bed that was given to her, falling asleep befor her head hit the pillow.

Sorry for the short chapter, I'm still kinda new to this. I'm writing in a J.R.R Tolkien style, with tons of detail where I can put it. Follow and comment, please!
