The eco was almost like a weighted blanket, thrown over Artz.
It was warm, and heavy, but really calming. Until it started stinging and it got heavier. It threw her out, and she tumbled on the hard precursor metal. She could hear Daxter's voice in the background , but it was distant and slightly echoey. She muttered something under her breath, and looked at the scene. Jak was crouching down to the otsel's level, and Daxter was screaming. Is it just me, or is Daxter taller than me, Artz looked at herself. Fur was covering her hands and arms, dirty blonde with tinges of brown and red. She was wearing her clothes, and still had her hair, glasses, shoes, even. Her bag had become otsel sized, and, thankfully, nothing was damaged or broken, to her relief.
Both of them were staring at her, and she just slunk down. After a few minutes of silence, Daxter climbed up on Jak's shoulder. Artz decided to do that as well, but on the other shoulder and she hid behind his shoulder.
(Here is a diagram. I'm sorry I'm bad at drawing)
They went back to the boat, ajusting to the unusual triangle that they were. Artz quickly realized that it was harder than it looked, but managed relatively well. She just tried to balance as much as she could, spreading her weight. "Jak, your shoulder is really hard to balance on," she observed. He laughed, and the boat got back to sandover village, docking at the dock.
The sun was starting to rise, and the yellow haired boy quietly ran to the sages hut. They stood in the doorway for a long minute, Samos turned around, of course, until Daxter stepped on a squeaky floorboard and he noticed them. "What in green tarnations do you three want?" He shouted, and the two otsels winced. "We- we was- I- I was-" the orange otsel was cut off by samos. "Don't tell me! Instead of heeding my wisdom, the three of you went mucking around in the only place that I told you not to go; Misty Island!" "That's right! And then-" Daxter got cut off again. "And Daxter, it looks like you finally took a much needed bath, but in a bathtub filled, with dark eco. As for you, Artemis, I have no idea how you got into the eco as well," Samos answered, and Artz was compelled to start yelling everything that was going to happen.
"Look, old man, are you gonna keep yappin', or are ya gonna help us outa this mess?!" Daxter screamed, shaking his fist. "I'm gonna keep yapping! In my professional opinion, the change is an improvement," Daxter growled, but Samos went on. "Besides, I couldn't help you even if I wanted to..." "WHAT!" The orange otsel shrieked at a pitch that even Artz couldn't obtain, making her wince. "There's only one person who has studied dark eco long enough to change you back to your original form; Gol Acheron, the Sage.
"But he lives far to the north, far, far to the north. I would teleport you there, but I can't do that either. None of the three sages have had their teleport gates on for quite a while! The only other way north is on foot through the Fire Canyon, but the volcanic soil is hot enough to melt precursor metal. You can't just walk through it-" This time, Samos was cut off by his own daughter, who walked in. "But you could fly over it! If you had a zoomer equipped with a heat shield." Kiera grinned. "I just happen to be working on such a thing at this very moment! All I would need is twenty power cells to fuel it," Daxter made a heroic pose, but Kiera didn't pay any attention to it.
"Yes, Kiera, that might work, but where are a boy and two rats going to get twenty power cells?" Artz scowled. "I am NOT a rat! I'm a..." drawing the words out, she moved her furry finger around in the air. "Ottsel! Otter weasel hybrid!" She grinned. ¨Well, they could get them from the villagers! Most of them have a power cell or two stashed away somewhere. Even if they aren't going to just GIVE them away, greasing thier palms with a few precursor orbs should do the trick. And i bet that there are even more of them out in the wild, just waiting for some brave adventurer to find!¨ She flashed a flirty smile towards Jak, who just grinned goofily.
¨Well, we've got the brave adventurer, at least,¨ Daxter observed, and Artz rolled her eyes. ¨BRAVE ADVENTURER? You three couldn't even find your way out of the VILLAGE without training! I want you three to go through the warp gate and get some practice on Gyser Rock.¨ Samos instructed. ¨We wont find anymore of that dark, goey eco stuff, will we? Cause I'd hate to fall in again and turn into you!¨ Daxter snapped, and everyone except for Samos snickered. ¨Get in there! Before I turn you all into ferns!¨ Jak looked at his friend, before jumping into the warp gate. Artz was soon to follow, with Daxter right on her tail.
