Confused and shocked from what he had just heard Mordecai asked them if she told them where she was going or if she was with anyone when she had left, but they just told him that she hadn't told them where she was headed to.
She only told them that she had to leave immediately and that she had a basket on her back and it had a red blanket covering whatever was inside. He didn't understand how she wasn't with anyone he was so sure that she was taken. The people of the village told him that he could stay there as long as he wanted if he needed, Mordecai decided to stay just for the day. They told him he could stay where Twilight stayed when she was there, she was in the village's library it had a room where she slept.

Since it was still morning he just walked around and helped the people water their crops in their farms. By the time it came to finally sleep he made his way to the library but he couldn't sleep. Knowing that Twilight was there the night before was eating him up inside, if only he hadn't fallen asleep in that tree and kept walking maybe he would've made it and seen her again. He just layed there on the bed while staring at the ceiling and after hours he started to finally fall asleep but then he started to hear taps on the window as if someone was knocking lightly or was throwing tiny pebbles, he was frightened but eventually decided to get up and see what was going on outside.
A tall wolf man was standing there throwing rocks Mordecai opened the window and asked the wolf what he wanted to which the wolf replied that he knew where Twilight was off to because she had told him, not knowing if he was lying or not he was so desperate for a lead so he took it. The wolf man told Mordecai the she was on her way to a grey stoned brick castle when he asked where exactly it was, the wolf told him that no one has ever made it there since he must go through foggy woods, a bridge over high water, and a stone walled maze. He didn't even know if Twilight would even make it there but he had to try, the wolf told him he had to be there just in case she didn't. Mordecai thanked him and went back to the bed where he slept then the next morning he was off to find her again.
