I woke up and slowly opened my eyes to the blinding sunlight beaming into my eyes. I tried to get up, but quickly felt a sharp pain throughout my body, primarily my chest. The night before was entirely blurry, but I assumed that I got into some fight and lost pretty bad from how awful I felt.
Dom peeked into the room and looked at me, sighed with relief, then entered. He pulled over a flimsy wooden chair so that he could sit next to my weak self laying in bed. Once he sat down, he looked at me calmly.
Dom's angelic eyes reflected the glow the sunlight as he said, "Hey, Marsh."
"Dom...is this your house?"
"Sadly, yes. Do you remember what happened last night?"
"Let me guess, did I get in some kind of a fight?"
"Yeah, it was pretty bad. You couldn't even stand, but I don't know what exactly happened since the boss took you back to his office after you rudely accused Ume of being a parasite."After he said that, I suddenly remembered what happened last night at the casino.
"Dom, I just remembered!"
"What is it?!"
"The boss-- err, Klover...he injected me with that stupid venom again."
"WHAT?!"I held my head in pain, I had a migraine left over from last night and Dom's scream was not helping.
"Don't scream, my head hurts really fucking bad..."
"My bad...where did he inject into you?"
"Don't freak out, but...my heart."He looked at me with shock and terror in his eyes, it was like he had seen the future Klover laid out in front of me.
"King, we need to act fast. If that hellish venom contaminates your whole body, you know what will happen."
"Yeah, I know..."
"This is why I shouldn't have come here and decided to befriended a demon...especially a literal sin."A sin? Well, that would explain why he's here. This whole concept of hell and heaven is new to me, so it's all happening in a blur. Dom told me that some big guy down in hell determines whether you need vengeance or not and sends you back up if you do. You get assigned a sin based on your time here if your sin is great enough, so I guess Klover's is probably Greed. Not all of them have been determined though, which is strange. Whoever makes those decisions is probably pretty indecisive or just like to take their time.
Dom whistled a tune, likely to be some kind of lullaby, and suddenly white sparkly dust appeared then turned into a woman with silky long hair and a calm demeanor. She looked very mature, almost mature enough to be a mother. I looked at her, questioning her identity, but she looked back at me with a gentle smile that almost made my face turn red.
"Marsh, this is a close friend of mine, Azalea. When I was very young, I made her out of an azalea flower, hence her name."
Wait, how is she so magical and that little monochrome parasite somehow isn't? She twisted my mind just by looking at her and I almost punched her because of it! What the hell is going on...have I been in a coma or something?!
The woman approached me and asked, "What seems to be the matter with him?"
"Greed got him with darkness."
Azalea gasped with disgust, "Darkness? By Greed? What did he do to possibly deserve that?"
I looked up, ashamed of myself, and said, "It's a long story."The tall motherly woman stood in silence for a moment, her expression lead me to believe that she was thinking to herself. After a while, she looked back up to Dom and I.
"I have a plan. It's going to be a stretch, but I'm willing to sacrifice what I must for it. No one will harmed by a nasty demon such as the Sin of Greed himself. Do not worry, you will be safe.
Even if it's the last thing I do."
