"I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL!" Sunghoon yelled into his pastel-blue pillow, punching the soft mattress beneath him. This sent Dohoon and Yeji bursting through his door in worry.
"You okay, Sunghoon?" Dohoon asked, patting his brother's back.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm okay," Sunghoon chuckled, panting.
"...you sure? We got quite a scare back there," Yeji said, a hand on her chest — probably easing a racing heart.
"Yeah, uh it's just me overreacting."
"Okay, then. Are you done packing?" Dohoon asked.
"Yeah, I just need to put some medication and stuff in there and I'm done," Sunghoon replied, looking towards his two suitcases.
"Oh, good. Anything you need? It's too dark for you to go out alone, so I'll buy what you need,"
"Hm... Nah, I'm okay. I went shopping with Jungwon already though, so I won't be needing anything. Thanks though!" the raven smiled.
Dohoon fiddled Yeji's purple-streaked locks, before nodding to her and saying, "we should let your brother get some sleep, yeah?" The girl nodded and chirped, "good night, Sunghoonie! I love you!"
"I love you too, Yeji. Now go, shoo, I'm sleepy," the middle-child chuckled playfully.
"Good night, Sunghoon. Don't stay up on your phone," Dohoon smiled, a hint of warm parenting in his tone.
"Yeah, I won't. I'm not five," Sunghoon giggled, stretching over to switch off the lights.
Dohoon and Yeji walked out of the room in an inaudible conversation, closing the door behind them.

White shirt, dark blue jeans and a grey blazer, with the school crest embroidered on the left breast pocket. No ties, thankfully; all of them hated wearing ties around their necks. A class of about forty students sat on benches and chairs, catching up with each other after the long holidays. The class was very noisy; girls in one corner, engaging in the usual teenage gossip. Boys also deep in their share gossip, occasionally adding to what the girls said. Then there were the "nerds" — or so they were called by the class bullies — sitting and waiting for the homeroom teacher in silence.
"Welcome to this new year at school, everyone! I'm Choi Seungha, your class teacher for this year. We have a couple of new students this year, and a few from different countries too!" Seeing not a very lively response from the class, she continued the usual drawl about welcoming the students to a new year. Sunghoon found it quite boring. Occasionally spacing out, he was sitting beside Jungwon, who was fiddling with a button he had found on the desk.
"Jungwon, whose button is that? You should probably give it back to them?" the raven whispered.
"I don't know, I just-" the male stopped and stared at Sunghoon's chest.
"What happened?"
"Er... it's yours," Jungwon murmured sheepishly, pointing at a missing buttonhole in the top half of Sunghoon's ivory shirt. Sunghoon panicked. He hated having his buttons come off because that meant stitching. And oh boy, he hated stitching.
"I'll uh... go stitch it up."
"Mrs Choi? I uh..." he didn't finish, but walked up to the woman and whispered in her ear: "I have a little emergency here," showing her the small black button and then pointing to his top. She nodded, a sign for him to leave.
He sprinted to his dorm room, unbuttoning the top buttons of his shirt on the way. As soon as he got in, he shut the door, looking for the box of needles, while undoing the rest of the buttons with his left hand.
"Got you," he sighed, taking both his blazer and his shirt off, putting the shirt on his lap and squinting at the area where he needed to place the button.
Only after he finished sewing did he notice another figure emerging from the bathroom.
"Holy shitake mushrooms, when did you get here?!" Sunghoon yelped, covering his torso with the shirt he was repairing.
"I was just setting up my stuff..."
"Uh, you saw nothing." Sunghoon's defences were up high and strong, but for no reason at all.
"Yeah, I didn't see anything, jeez," the brunette said calmly, attitude divergent with Sunghoon's.
The raven slipped his shirt on again, back facing the other.
"Do you need help with anything? I can help after the first period," Sunghoon said, genuinely trying to be nice, but his tone said differently.
"I don't know where things are, so I'd appreciate that. Thank you." Jake smiled warmly, picking up his blazer from the chair.
"Shall we go to class?" Sunghoon asked, straightening his clothes. When the brunette nodded, they walked step-in-step to the classroom. Sunghoon felt tense, he wasn't sure why. Jake was excited, but nervous too. He had never been to boarding school before and was all too used to living around his mother. Jake, of course, sensed that Sunghoon was being hostile towards him, though he didn't get what he had done wrong. Was he being too pushy? Was he being too introverted? Did he cross the limits (accidentally, though) when he walked in on Sunghoon a few minutes back?
Both of them just hoped things would work out for themselves, being in the same room for the rest of the year.
