And so they acted pettily.

It was a Friday, which was the weekly assembly day, and Jake, Jay, Jungwon and Sunghoon were sitting together in a row in the auditorium.

The same auditorium where Jake had been yelled at just the weekend before.

Sunghoon and Jake had barely talked since the incident, probably concluding that they were better off keeping their distance. The other two, Jungwon and Jay, didn't interfere either.

"Sunghoon, I—" Jake began in a whisper.

"So, what are we playing today?" Sunghoon asked Jay, taking a sip of juice from his cup.

Jake was trying his best to apologise to the raven, but Sunghoon wouldn't take it. While sitting idly he would mumble to himself: 'Sunghoon deserves an award for being this cold,' or 'he's heartless, that's why he doesn't accept me,'.

"We're not playing anything," Jay sighed, stirring his chopsticks around in his empty bowl. "Oh, by the way, we can go collect our phones, finally." (read below for the explanation to this)

"Oh, good," Jake said, face lighting up.

"We can finally exchange numbers and make a group chat and—" the youngest began, to be interrupted by Jay.

"Don't give this one your number. He'll send you cat memes at 3 AM, and you do not want that."

Sunghoon and Jake laughed, while Jungwon feigned looking offended.

However, the scenes of what Sunghoon had said kept playing in the brunette's mind.

Jake genuinely wanted to make up with Sunghoon, but it seemed that the feeling wasn't reciprocated. Sunghoon ignored Jake, acting as if he was just a speck of dust on a kitchen counter.

Jake lay awake in bed that night, reflecting on his thoughts in the vast, comforting darkness. The air was slightly chilly as it drifted in through the slightly ajar window. Switching on his (newly acquired) phone, and then hurrying to turn the brightness down so as not to hurt his eyes, he searched up: 'how to make up with someone'. He scrolled unthinkingly for a while, not very impressed by the results he got.

Until he read: 'Give them a dessert that they like.' Tilting his head to the side, he mumbled, "that's not a bad idea..." Jake glanced at the time; 2:07 AM.

"Should I text him...?"

He didn't bother reconsidering. He opened up the chat with Jungwon, who had taken Jake's number at the lunch table the previous day.
