"mum, grandpa still lives in that old place you told me about in america right?"
"I haven't talked to him in years so I don't know hun" she smiles softly
"I want to send him a letter"
"that's a lovely idea! I'll take it to the post office on my way to work"
"thanks mum"
"no worries hun" she ruffles your hair
"will mama be back soon"
"she's stuck in traffic"
you sigh and go to the fridge
"by any chance did she get anything to eat" you turn around to show your mum the empty fridge
"shit"
"I can pop down to the corner shop don't worry, it's still light out"
"I need to go in 10 so I'll leave it to you"
you nod
"if you're hungry I can go now"
"it's a good thing I'm not" she laughs as she walks to her room
you go back to your room and listen to music

"hi hun. I'm leaving now, could you get toilet paper too, we've run out and get any snacks you want. here's my card"
"yep! thanks mum, love you"

your mum leaves the house and you go to your wardrobe to get warmer clothes to go out.
you go down to the corner shop and walk around
"what should we have for dinner" you talk to yourself
"I kinda fancy pizza"
you look to your right
"mama!" you hug her
"hi sweetcakes, did mum give you her card?"
you nodded
"I'll buy the pizza and you be a responsible adult and buy the other stuff we need"
