||Third Person's POV||
A soft, exhausted sigh escaped Kai's slightly parted lips as she finally opened the door of her apartment that she shared with her boyfriend of two years, Tobio Kageyama.
She had just gotten off of a stress-filled day of work, no more than two hours prior and while her first instinct was to get to her car and make her way home as quickly as possible to be reunited with her ever so missed lover, traffic seemed to have had very different plans.
A drive that should have only been 20 minutes at the absolute most had taken Kai nearly 45 minutes.
And as if that weren't bad enough on the noirette, she had entered the apartment, only to find out that the elevator (that had worked perfectly fine just that morning) was out of order and she now had to trudge her tired and aching body up the stairs, that lead to the apartment that was located on the 3rd floor.
With a huff and aggravated run of her bandaged fingers through her hair, Kai made her way in the direction of the ever so dreaded staircase.
2 flights of stumbled up staircases and more than enough muttered curses to last the girl a lifetime later, she'd entered the doorway of the "small-but-big-enough-for-them" apartment.
She shut the door as quietly as possible, not knowing where her love was, nor if he were asleep just yet. Though she highly doubted that due to Kageyama's ever reoccurring habit of remaining awake until Kai returned home, she would rather not take any chances.
She locked the door and hung the keys in their rightful position on their key holder before taking her sneakers off and kicking them slightly to the side and out of the way of the walkway.
She learned quite the hard way that shoes and walkways don't mix well and she certainly preferred not having a repeat of what had happened the last time.
With a slight cringe and shake of her head to rid herself of the memory, Kai squinted through the darkness to see if she could spot her love.
Not seeing Tobio in the living room, she sleepily made her way towards their bedroom, figuring he'd most likely be in there instead.
Usually on nights when Kai would be late coming home for whatever reason, Tobio would wait up in the living room as long as he could before his eyes would begin to betray him and he would then migrate his way to their room.
Kai slowly pushed the door open quietly, not wanting to possibly startle the other before peeking his head in to make sure Kageyama was actually in the room and not somewhere else in the apartment.
Seeing him bundled up under the covers on the bed, she entered the room completely before shutting the door behind herself and beginning to change into her bedtime clothing.
Upon hearing the shuffling coming from around the room, Kageyama lifted his head in slight confusion, eyebrows furrowed as he pulled the blanket under his chin to see over it better. His face slowly softened and a smile took over his sleepy features at the sight of his girlfriend making her way towards the shared bed, now fully clad in her pyjamas.
Kageyama lifted the covers and shuffled over a bit to allow Kai to climb into the bed beside him.
"Long day, Idiot?" He hummed out, his voice soft and fond as the noirette climbed into the space beside him.
Kai gave a curt nod in response as she placed her hands on the guy's hips to easily bring him closer to herself.
The guy snaked his arms around the girl's torso, resulting in the blanket falling around Kai in the process and enveloping the two in its warmth.
"Very. Not to mention I missed you throughout it!" She spoke, her words slurring together a bit out of exhaustion before she pressed a feather light kiss to her lover's forehead.
"Oh stop" Kageyama muttered out as embarrassment and shyness burned bright on his cheeks and he hid his face in Kai's shirt clad shoulder, thankful for the darkness consuming them that helped to hide his now red colored cheeks.
Although quiet, he had not missed the deep chuckle it provoked from the girl. "But I missed you, as well. So much." He breathed out softly, just loud enough for the sleep ridden girl to hear.
A soft smile formed on Kai's lips at her love's words, her previously stressful day having long melted away from her mind, the minute she had the older boy in her arms.
She pressed another gentle kiss to his messy hair, this time before running her fingers gently through it as the room melted into a comfortable silence.
The only sounds being that of the pairs soft breathing.
They remained that way for a few more minutes until Tobio shifted the position of his head to bury his face into the place where Kai's neck and shoulder met, resulting in the other holding him just that much closer.
Kai's fingertips traced lightly up the boy's spine in a calming, affectionate manner as Kageyama's soft breaths fanned down her neck.
"I love you." Kai spoke softly as her eyes averted their gaze to the angelic looking boy in her arms, an instant sparkle shining at just the mere sight of him.
Kai felt soft lips press against the skin of her neck ever so gently before feeling a smile form on those lips against her skin.
"And I love you too"
The soft voice travelled it's way up to graze her ear and she swears it's something she's sure she'd never get used to.
But could you really blame her? She's absolutely head over heels for the black haired boy and no matter what the boy says, it's always like music to the girl's ears.
She trailed her fingertips lightly back up Kageyama's spine, not missing the way he shuddered slightly under her light touches before relaxing against the noirette's body once more with a soft, relaxed breath.
Gentle fingertips continued their way up to the soft noir locks that were lightly tickling the skin of his neck before gently brushing some strands behind her love's ear, not once taking her eyes off of the breath taking boy who had his eyes closed so peacefully.
Kai's fond-filled eyes travelled over Tobio's peaceful features, admiring the way the corners of his lips were curved up into the slightest smile, his long eyelashes fluttering ever so slightly.
A subtle sign that the boy was still awake.
The girl's fingers continued to trail through the boy's locks gently, knowing it almost always lulled him to sleep quickly.
Though Kai was just as, if not more, tired than the boy, she always had to make sure the boy was in a peaceful, deep sleep before she could allow herself too.
She didn't know why it had been that way, it just had always been a habit of hers to do with the younger even before the two had begun dating.
Hearing Kageyama's breathing slowly beginning to even out, Kai let her hand slow to a stop before she dipped her head down slightly to press a gentle kiss to her boyfriend's soft, slightly parted lips.
"Goodnight, my sweet king." She mumbled softly before pressing one last kiss to the soft skin of Tobio's forehead, the slight upwards curve of the corners of his boyfriend's lips not going unnoticed by Kai as the boy fell deeper into sleep.
Her hand that had still been in the black locks moved to pull the blanket tighter around the two before moving to wrap around the guy's back once more, keeping him close to her chest.
Once positive that the athlete was completely asleep and wasn't about to wake up anytime soon, Kai's tired, heavy eyes slowly drooped shut as she buried her face into the soft head of hair that belonged to the boy she ever-so dearly adored.
Kai's breaths slowed as her mind slipped off into the temporary unconsciousness described as sleep where she dreamt only of the sunshine she was blessed enough to call her boyfriend.
