||Ilyana's POV||
Since starting my new job in New York, I'm struggling to find an apartment before the new school year.
So, when I stumbled upon Oikawa's apartment complex, I wasn't expecting a beautiful apartment with an even more beautiful view to be affordable.
I certainly wasn't expecting my neighbour to be extremely handsome as well.
Now that I settled into my new apartment and the school year had begun, I was waiting for Oikawa to make his move.
The two of us spent almost every night together by having dinner and a glass of wine.
He helped me cook, but there were some nights where he brought the food.
Regardless, I had grown feelings for him and I tried to leave him subtle hints to let him know that I liked him.
But he never said anything. He never asked me out. Instead, the dinners simply continued as if it was just two friends hanging out.
Today that was going to change, Working as a landscape artist at a nearby community college allowed me to have certain days off for national holidays. With Men's Day fast approaching, I took this opportunity to ask Oikawa out.
If he wasn't going to do it, then I would take a risk and ask him out myself.
After dressing in a spaghetti strapped, sleeveless, yellow sundress that reached my shins, I slid on my sandals and walked out of my apartment.
My make-up remained light and hair was in its natural state—I remembered what Oikawa said about liking the way my hair looked when it wasn't tied up.
I stood in front of his door with my heart beating rapidly in my chest. I could feel a sweat build at my brow when I finally decided to knock.
It had taken a while before he opened the door, but when I saw him, I immediately smiled.
He was dressed in a white button-down shirt that was tucked into his dark brown slacks. His hair wasn't in its usual fringed state and for a moment, I wondered if I had interrupted him and his plans.
"Hey," he smiled.
"H-Hi... I was just wondering if you wanted to grab a cup of coffee. It's my day off, and I figured I'd spend it with you" I blushed.
Oikawa felt his heart melt. Not many women took initiative like I did. In fact, he had grown the courage to finally ask me out, but I had beat him to it.
He was dressed for the occasion, so instantly, he agreed. It made him feel special and wanted for once.
Meeting me, made his life much better than he thought was possible. In the beginning, he had gone beneath the walls to spy, but after the daily dinners, Oikawa didn't find the need to do it anymore.
He started to believe that I was going to be the one to take him out of the darkness, to take him out of the walls.
"That sounds like an amazing idea" Oikawa finally replied.
I followed him out of the apartment building, where I offered to walk to the closest coffee shop. Oikawa didn't mind and he even held the door open for me in a gentleman-like fashion.
It made me blush and I wondered if this would be considered as a date because I found myself staring at him, but I also noticed Oikawa's eyes lingering on me. There was a tension in the air that thickened as the day progressed.
"So, your little brother accidentally punched you in the face because you forgot to duck?" Oikawa chuckled.
"I didn't expect him to throw a legitimate punch!" I smiled, sipping my cup of coffee as Oikawa led us out of the coffee shop and towards the nearby park. It was weird, but comfortable to know that time could easily pass so quickly when I was with him. I had so much fun with him that I seemed to forget the concept of time.
