Jess smiled watching as Rory was busy playing with Oliver while he had just came back from work.
Working at Walmart was nothing permanent for him but it also wasn't something he wanted to feel unwelcome at.
While also writing a book begging people to put it in their shelves he had his hands full not to mention that he was also helping Rory around the house and with Oliver when she went in to work every now and then.

"Hello you guys," Jess said as he sat down next to Rory.

"Say welcome home, Daddy. How was your day?" Rory asked as she gave Jess a kiss.

"My day was good and yours? Has Oliver been behaving himself or is he still crumpy from teething?" Jess asked.

"Less crumpy. Could you take him? I need to head into the Cazette for a few minutes," Rory said.

"Sure. We can pop into Luke's quickly. Go. I'll gladly take him. Has he had his afternoon bottle yet?" Jess asked as Rory grabbed her coat.

"Yes but his next bottle is at five. Don't know if I'll be back by then," Rory said.

"Tell you what. We are gonna pop in at Lorelai's and then I'll meet you at Luke's at six for dinner," Jess said.

"Amazing plan. See you guys later," Rory said as she was gone.

Smiling Jess picked Oliver up putting him in the stroller as he started to walk around with the little baby.
For him it was unbelievable that Oliver was already seven months old and that he and Rory would be together for almost six months.
Seeing as the Dragonfly Inn. got more and more busy he went in immediately seeing Lorelai.

"Well isn't it my beautiful grandson. Where's Rory?" Lorelai asked as she picked Oliver up.

"At the Cazette. Could you and I possibly talk? I have something important to ask you," Jess said.

"Sure let's sit," Lorelai said as they sat down.

"So, me and Rory have been together for six months now and even without knowing about Oliver, she's all I've ever thought about. She's the whole reason why I came back to Stars Hollow and I haven't regret anything regarding our relationship or Oliver since she told me. Lorelai, I want to ask your permission to ask Rory to marry me," Jess said.

"Of course you can. I didn't think you would. Like you said it's been six months since you guys started to date but also six months since you've found out about Oliver. Looks like kids from his generation doesn't just get married anymore because of a kid," Lorelai said.

"I wanted a chance to prove our relationship can work before I went forward with that commitment. Luke got divorced because of that and I didn't want Rory to go through something like this. I wanted her to be ready as well. She had just had a baby then and it wasn't the right time. Now it feels like it is the right time. She's almost 21 and Oliver is turning 8 months soon so I feel the time is right. Our relationship is ready and I'm ready as well. I didn't want to make a commitment just because. My father did and before my birth he left so I don't want that to happen to Rory. Nor to Oliver. I know what it did to me to be raised without a father and I don't want him to go through it as well so I waited a bit," Jess said.

"Yes. You have my permission to ask her to marry you. Want me to take Ollie for the day?" Lorelai asked referring to the baby on her lap.

"No. I have a way to incorporate him in the plan. Thank you, Lorelai. You won't regret it. I promise you," Jess said.

"Of course. Once you guys get married things will change a lot though. Ready for that?" Lorelai asked as Jess nodded.

"For awhile now. I'll do my best to make her happy," Jess said.

"Well I gotta get back to my job so you go back to Daddy and I'll see you guys soon. Bye," Lorelai said giving Oliver to Jess as she went on with work.
