Amrita's POV

"Jhanvi.." I glanced upwards at my friend who was digging through her make-up pouch.
"Shush, my student." She hummed, bouncing with excitement, "You're going on a date with an international cricketer."
"I can't go-" I started to place out my reasonings but she let out a groan.
"Give me an explanation why not." She placed her hands on her hips with a skeptical expression.
"I have a doctor's appointment today," I told her, feeling pretty confident with my half-lie.
"Ammu, it's just dizziness, we can book a different appointment." Jhanvi sighed, which led to a sigh of my own. The heaviest of sighs.
I always told Jhanvi everything minus one teeny weeny thing.
I'm ill, not your basic cough or cold but Ischemic Heart disease. To sum it up, one day my heart would stop beating. The fact that I lived to 28 was a big deal, a great achievement a doctor had said. But last my year, my timer had begun. I had a maximum of two years left to live, if I'm lucky.
"Jhanvi, I'm not feeling too well." I practically begged her, I couldn't get too deep in with the emotion. Not again.
"Ammu, you okay?" Jhanvi's eyebrows knitted together, "Your really pale-"
"I'm fine, Jannu." I cut through quickly before she worried too much. "Just a little head ache, but it's bothering me a little."
Jhanvi was quite obviously hesitant to let me go now, "Fine, call him and tell him you can't make it."
"Why can't you call him!" My voice rose to a squeaky pitch.
"Cause he's your date," She responded with a 'duh' tone, she tossed me her phone with a wink.
I fidgeted a little, waiting for him to pick up. By the second ring, he'd accepted the call.
"Miss me so much that you had to call me thirty minutes before our date?" His voice cut through my panic, I felt somewhat at ease. A certain bravery, a certain flutter.
"How long did it take you to come up with that?" I hummed, tapping my thigh with a tight smile.
"Guilty as charged," He laughed sending my insides into a flurry.
"Where are you, anyways?"
I could practically picture it in my eyes, him glancing about eagerly looking for me.
"I can't make it."
Silence.
Deafening Silence.
"Gee, you had to stand me up, huh?" He chuckled, it was a good natured chuckle. Nothing horrifying about it.
"Your not mad?" My voice dropped to a whisper.
"Why would I be? Your a busy woman." He scoffed, there was a bit of background noise. Someone speaking to Rahul. "Well, Dipti, I gotta go."
But for some reason, the voice sounded so far away. The world was being enclosed in a black box, and someone was locking me in it. My breathing labored, as I opened my mouth to cry out to Jhanvi. But she wasn't there, she couldn't hear me.
