It was only this Morning when him and his hunting partner, Tubbo, were in the woods looking at the traps they hat set the previous day, luckily, they had caught a bunny and decided too get some berries as well. Today was a... Very important day too everyone in district 12 and all around the other districts as well.

Reaping Day.

Reaping Day was,, terrifying, too say the least. Everyone in each of the 12 districts had too sit and watch as 2 people (a boy and a girl) get picked to fight to the death. It was a sick the capital decided too make, probably a sick way too show how much power the capital actually had over the districts. What made it even worse, was that they were forced to act like it was a sort of holiday.

Him and Tubbo would make fun of the capital in the woods, well, more so he would and Tubbo would make little fun of them as well, keeping a watchful eye just in case someone over heard them.

But now?

He sat in the town square, it was so quite you could probably hear a pin drop. Tommy watched as a girl with a bright pink wig with a green spring suit on walked onto the stage.

"Happy Happy day everyone!"

The lady chirped smiling a little too brightly for kid being picked and thrown into a fight to the death. Tommy scanned the crowed landing eyes on Tubbo, the brunette liked towards the blonde before giving him a small. A way of saying , 'good luck'. To the other, Tommy returned the smile before looking back towards the lady (he didn't bother to learn the lady's name).

"May the odds be ever in your favour! Now, ladies first!"

He pink tinted hand (which Tommy found weird, did they dye their skin in the capital for sport? Wouldn't that be bad for you skin? That sure can't be healthy, but then he remembered that they also watched kids fight to the death for fun, putting bets on who would win. So obviously, there not healthy well in the capital.)

Her hand went into the girls bowl before pulling out a thin piece of paper, she smoothed it out before reading it out loud.

"LANI UNDERSCORE."

Tommy almost choked on the mention of that name, he could practically hear Tubbos thoughts from where he was standing, he knew Lani. She would sometimes tag along during him and tubbos hunting trips, despite Tubbo telling her off for following them.

She was only 14, 2 years younger then Tommy himself. He watched as she nervously made her way up to the stage, while Tubbo looked towards her in disbelief, mumbling something over and over again. Tommy couldn't catch what it was.

"Congratulations Lani! You've made it too the games! Can we get a round of applause for Lani?"

Lani slowly nodded before looking towards the crowed, everyone stayed quiet, no one liked this, everyone thought this was unfair. She was officially a contestant in the games.
Tommy's breath hitched, she was gonna be a contestant in the games, oh god, he wished he could volunteer for Lani, but he couldn't only people of the same gender could volunteer.

"Tough crowed..."

The lady shook her head before going towards the boys bowl, her hand filling around before pulling out a crumbled slice of paper. Once again, smoothing it out and reading the name.

"TOMMYINNIT."

The world froze.

One time when Tommy was younger he used too skate by town square on the ice with his father, what was his fathers name again? He remembered how the wind felt as he skated with his father hand on his own, but then his father let go and Tommy fell forwards onto the ground. Everything felt like it froze, the world stopped as he fell before picking up again-

THUMP!

He was snapped back by a shove towards the stage, he glanced towards Tubbo who looked like he was second away from a panic attack. He gave him a small smile before walking up towards the stage.

Right then he knew one thing,

He knew that he and Lani couldn't both make it back,

He knew he wouldn't make it back alive.

He would make sure Lani came back, Tubbo needed his sister more then he needed his best friend, hunting buddy.

Let the games begin.
