Ruby x Male Reader x Neo

The Woods

(This is a reset on the story where it is now just a short story)

No One's POV

Ruby had snuck out of her house, while her dad was taking a nap, to head to the woods. She was only six years old and she already loved the feeling of adventuring in the woods. She made it to her destination after half an hour, to instantly begin climbing the trees and jump from branch to branch. Meanwhile Neo just stole a scroll to take out the tracking chip out and walk into the woods from the opposite side of the woods. She was eight years of age and she already knew how to steal from pockets, stores, and cars. She loved to take things and the woods was her hiding spot as nobody ever went there. She hid whatever jewels she had in the trunk of a tree to begin heading towards her favorite flower bed to lay in.

As Ruby played she decided to go deeper into the woods as she managed to sneak out of her house sooner than she usually did. After another hour of playing she was jumping in the branches of the trees in front of her until she landed on a low branch that was to weak to hold her weight. The branch snapped for her to fall and land on Neo's stomach as she was laying down in her flower bed. Neo shot up, "Oomph!" Ruby rolled on her side as she hurt her arm a little, as Neo rolled on her stomach with her arm holding her up with her other arm holding her gut. When Neo recovered she crawled over to Ruby to hit her in the back of her head. Ruby held her head, "Oww! What was that for?!"

Neo started texting on the scroll, "You fell on me you idiot!"  Ruby looked at her, "I didn't mean to! And what are you even doing here?! I've never seen you before!" "You're not the only one who likes the woods?!" Ruby stood up, "Well who likes to sleep in flower beds like a weirdo?!" Neo put her hand on her chest as she gasped as she mouthed, "How dare you." She then looked around to see that Ruby had crushed multiple flowers for her to get even more upset. She went to type something in her scroll again until she saw Ruby looking up above them as she seemed frozen. 

Neo turned around and looked up to see two glowing red pupils staring down at the two in a tree above them. The two could see the shape of a small figure move in the trees until it jumped down for them to see a Grimm in the form of a seven year old tiger faunus boy. The two girls froze as the boy walked towards them as he was on all fours and his tail went back and fourth as he seemed curious. Ruby took a slight step back catching the boy's attention for him to look at her making her stop. The two knew what Grimm was and thought that they were going to die as the Grimm got closer and closer.

When he got close enough he saw their scabs and bruises for him to put his hand on Neo's forehead. She trembled a little for black ooze to come out of his hand to go towards her stomach. After a while it disappeared for Neo to instantly feel better as she was surprised for the boy to walk over to Ruby. He did the same for the ooze to go to the back of Ruby's head and arm. Ruby felt better as well for the boy to then sit down and focus on the flowers as he made them grow back to full health. The two girls stood there not knowing what to do for Ruby to walk up in front of him, "Hi." (Y/N) looked at her to mimic her as he made his voice sound like a human's, "Hi." The two girls were able to get a close look at him to see that he was wearing ragged clothes, had ink black eyes with red pupils, ash white skin, with some black lines running through his body, as well as his ears and tail.

Ruby was a bit surprised to hear him talk as her father told her about how savage the Grimm creatures were. She sat in front of him as she became curious, "Who are you?" The boy shrugged for Ruby to continue, "How did you get here?" He shrugged as all he did was walk until he got here. "How long have you been here?" (Y/N) pointed at the sun to count to twenty-five days for Ruby to look confused. Neo typed on the scroll, "Twenty-five days." She sat next to Ruby for the her to go, "Ooohhh." The two continued to ask him questions for the boy to do his best to answer them with the amount of knowledge that he had. It soon got darker for Ruby to realize it first, "Oh I have to get home!" She quickly left for Neo to get up as well and leave as she did not sleep in the woods, but instead on a rooftop where she hid a blanket and a pillow. The boy decided that he would sleep where he currently was, because he would sleep whenever and wherever he felt sleepy.

When Ruby got home her father asked where she was for her to answer, "Yang took me to the park." Her father looked at Yang who just walked in as she had snuck out to hang out with  her friends, "Huh, oh yeah." Their father let out a sigh, "Okay, next time please leave a note so that I know where you two are okay?" The two nodded, "Yes sir." Taiyang looked at Ruby, "So did you have fun?" Ruby nodded, "Yep. I made two friends!" "Really? How did you meet them?" "I fell on one when climbing a tree and the other I made when he healed our boo boos." Taiyang sweat dropped, "Wow. You sure know how to make friends."

Since then Ruby has gone to the woods to hang out with the boy and Neo. The faunus enjoyed Ruby and Neo's company, while Neo just needed a place to hide so she bared the two's company. Even though she did find herself enjoying herself around them. After two years the three became close until one day Ruby's father asked her what her friends were like. Ruby looked like she did not want to tell him, but then said, "Promise that you won't get mad or tell anyone." Taiyang nodded, "I promise." "One of my friends has half brown and half pink hair, for the same to go with her eyes. She doesn't really talk at all, but she seems to always have a lot of money that she gives me on holidays. Then the other actually has tiger ears and a tail. He also looks like a Grimm, but he's very nice." Taiyang smiled, "Well they sound lovely. Why don't you go upstairs and play with your sister. I have to call an old friend."

Ruby did just that to end up sneaking out with her sister who went to see her friends, for them to use a bunch of blankets that they tied together. As Ruby snuck under the window she saw some cars parked up front for her to peek in and see her father talking to huntsmen, "She said that they are somewhere in the woods." Ruby's heart sank for her to run to the woods towards the meeting spot to see her friends waiting for her. They waved for Ruby to quickly begin talking, "I told my dad about you two and now he's sending huntsmen out here!" The other two were a little surprised from the news to become scared as they heard people coming. Ruby looked at them, "Run!" Neo and the boy booked it going separate ways for the huntsmen to find Ruby and continue the search.

That night the huntsmen brought Ruby home for Taiyang to know how Ruby felt when he saw her. The huntsmen walked towards their car, "We couldn't find the other two. We'll search the city for that Grimm. Make sure to keep your children safe." When they were gone Yang snuck back in to see Taiyang reach out to Ruby, "Sweetie I-" Ruby looked up at him, "You promised!" "Ruby I was doing it for your protection." "They weren't hurting me!" "They were a Grimm and a thief." "They were my friends!" She then ran upstairs and slammed her door shut for it to then be silent. Taiyang sat at the table as he put his head in his hand.

A few days later Neo managed to get on a train and find a new place that she could steal from with plenty of valuables. This city was called Vale. The boy on the other hand made it far, but a huntress caught up with him. She had her weapon in hand for the young faunus to not know what to do, as he did now know what he did wrong for people to hate him. So instead of fighting he sat down to stare at the huntress waiting for her to do what she needed to do. However when the huntress looked into his eyes she saw something that she has never seen in Grimm, sadness. She sheathed her weapon for her to walk up to the Grimm and crouch in front of him, "Are you going to hurt me?" The boy shook his head for the lady to think for a bit, "What do you want to do?" The boy shrugged for the woman to hold out her hand, "Why don't you come with me so that I can ask you some questions." (Y/N) took her hand for her to ask, "What's your name." He answered, "The boy." She was a little surprised to hear him talk as she did not think that he would actually answer, "Well that isn't a name. How about (Y/N)?" (Y/N) nodded for the woman to smile, "My name Glynda."
