No One's POV

(Y/N) was twelve as he was sitting on a couch reading a book with Glynda Goodwitch sitting next to him. (Y/N) was reading out loud for Glynda to smile at him as he finished a chapter, "Very good. You're learning quite fast." (Y/N) smiled at her for Glynda to pat his head. She then took the book and set it aside, "Now how about we do some combat training?" (Y/N) frowned, "I don't like combat training." "Why is that?" "Because everyone stares at me with that look on their face." Glynda knew what his was talking about for her to pat his back, "Tell you what, after training we can go get those vanilla wafers that you like so much." (Y/N) smiled from hearing that for Glynda to stand up and extend her hand to him, "Now come on. It's getting late."

The two soon arrived to what seemed like a giant school as it was closed and barely anybody was there. (Y/N) looked at Glynda, "What are we doing here?" Glynda looked down at him, "Combat training will take place here today." "Why?" "Well today more people will be watching you, and the training will be a little bit different than all of the other times." "Will I get to use my staff?" "No, not today." (Y/N) became nervous for Glynda to crouch down to his level, "Just do what they say the best you can and we'll be gone before you know it." She then booped his nose for (Y/N) to smile as they walked into the building.

A few minutes later (Y/N) was in an arena as Glynda stood in a booth above with a few Atlas soldiers and General Ironwood. Glynda had her arms crossed as she looked worried for Ironwood to pull out a radio and push a button on it, "Bring them out." A few robot soldiers came into the arena for Ironwood to press a button to get on the speakers, "(Y/N) what I want you to do is take out those robots in front of you." (Y/N) took a deep breathe to concentrate and bring his hand up. A plant came out of the ground with some black gunk surrounded it. He then stuck his hand in front of him making multiple come out of the ground and impale the robots. Ironwood got on the radio again, "Start phase two." More robots came out for Ironwood to get on the speakers, "Now don't attack. Find a way to survive this attack." The robots started firing for (Y/N) to make a bunch vines surround him. After ten seconds the bullets started to tear through the vines for Glynda to tightly grip her left arm, "That's enough." They kept going for Glynda to look at Ironwood, "That's enough!" Ironwood held up the radio, "That's enough. Call them back."

The robots walked away for the vines to go away as Glynda let out a breathe of relief as (Y/N) went through a few more tests testing his speed and quick thinking. When the last test was over Glynda let out a breathe of relief, "I believe that's all that we agreed on today." Ironwood however said, "Start the final test." A large robot, that was as big as a house, came into the arena for Glynda to look at Ironwood and point at the thing, "We did not agree on this." Ironwood calmly looked at her, "We must see what he can do." "He's a child!" Ironwood pressed the button, "Take that thing out (Y/N)." (Y/N) looked scared to try and use what seemed like Grimm vines, by making them come out of the ground and wrap around the robot's limbs. He was struggling to try and hold it in place, but it was not enough as the robot ripped them off and take aim at the boy. Glynda's eyes widened, "You set it to attack him!" She went to help him but Ironwood grabbed her arm stopping her, "You can't help him."

The robot shot a blast for (Y/N) to brings vines in front of him for it to make contact creating an explosion. Glynda used her semblance to knock Ironwood back and jump out of the booth. She then lifted the robot to send it flying out of the arena to look around as the smoke cleared, to find (Y/N) near the wall as he was battered and bruised. Glynda quickly ran to him to get on her knees as she checked on him. (Y/N) opened his eyes, "What happened?" Glynda hugged him as a wave of relief hit her. She patted his back, "I should of never agreed to this." She then checked his body to see some deep cuts on him, for them to not be healing back, "Come on. We're going home."

Ironwood walked up to them with a few soldiers behind him, "He will be coming with me." Glynda looked at him with darkness looming over her eyes, "What?" "We need to take advantage of this rare opportunity." "He is not going with you." Ironwood sighed, "Whether you like it or not he is Grimm that we can take advantage of to kill other Grimm." "He is a-" Ironwood took a step closer, "That thing is a monster! Stop acting like he is your child!" Glynda then slapped him for the sound to echo through the arena for everything to go silent. Ironwood created a fist as he took a deep breathe for another voice to be heard, "I think that's enough you two."

Everyone looked at the man talking to see Professor Ozpin. Ironwood looked at him, "We had a deal that after some tests I would take with me to train him." Ozpin stood next to Glynda, "And you brought a large unauthorized military machine onto my property. It seems that you have broken our promise." "Ozpin think about what a great weapon he could be." Ozpin used his staff to point at the exit, "I think you should leave." Ironwood huffed as he walked off, "Very well." He left with his soldiers for Glynda to help (Y/N) as Ozpin looked at her, "He's right you know. He would make a good huntsman." Glynda stared at him for Ozpin to walk off, "You teach here. I'm sure that you can get him in here when he's old enough."

Glynda made it home with (Y/N) for her to clean the boy to find that he was going to have a slight scar on his left arm, right cheek, and left ear. Glynda looked upset, "I never should of agreed to let you do that. You will never have to fight again." (Y/N) looked at her, "What's a huntsman?" "Well it's what I am. We do what you've been doing but against monsters." (Y/N) looked down, "Like me." Glynda put her hand on the boy's cheek, "Oh honey no. You are not a monster, don't ever listen to that mean man Ironwood." She then patted his head, "You are my little cub." She then went into the kitchen to come back with vanilla wafers making (Y/N) happy. As the two enjoyed the treat (Y/N) looked at Glynda, "I want to be a huntsman." Glynda nearly choked as she thought that after what happened today he would be traumatized, "Why?" "Well as a huntsman I could help people right?" "Well, yes." "Then I want to be one." The boy looked determined for it to get dark soon. Glynda tucked (Y/N) in for her to turn the light off, "Goodnight little cub." (Y/N) yawned as he closed his eyes, "Goodnight mom." Glynda closed the door for her to head off to bed herself as she started to think about what to do to prepare (Y/N) for the world.
