Chapter notes: I actually wrote this the week episode 10 came out, so let's just ignore what happened between River and Amaya on episode 15.
"...and send", Jade mumbled, quickly chucking her phone under one of the couch pillows. She would rather risk her phone being swallowed by the couch than finding out if Bella read her text, let alone replied to it. One could easily tell that Jade was beyond stressed by just looking at her, which is exactly what happened after Amaya walked in to find Jade curled up on the couch.
"Uh...Why are you still up?", said now confused Amaya. "You know what, Amaya? I should be asking you the same thing", snapped Jade. "What? A girl can't go out for fresh air and come back three hours later?",Amaya wondered suspiciously. Right after an even more suspicious pause she said, "I'll give you the tea if you give me yours, now spill!", sounding desperate not to hear Jade's story but to tell hers. "You wouldn't get it", Jade sat up straight and crossed her legs like a child. "C'mon Jade", said Amaya as she sat down next to Jade, "I know we might not be friends yet, but you can trust me anytime...I'm a great keeper of secrets, and I-"
"It's about Bella", interrupted Jade to avoid Amaya's daily rant about her old school. "You really miss her still don't you?", Amaya sounds sympathetic. "More than that", said Jade, "I realized I really like her...As in...more than a friend, and I lost her". Amaya was starting to feel inexplicably sorry for Jade, she could never imagine that all of that was happening to Jade since Amaya arrived to Rainbow High. "Oh my...I had no idea, that must be terrible. But don't give up Jade, you'll see her again for sure...if it's meant to be". "Well I'll see if that's true after she replies to my texts", said Jade trying to sound like she had the slightest ounce of hope. "Hey no don't think like that", said Amaya, "maybe I wasn't around to see your chemistry with her, but I know without a doubt that she likes you too! Plus, you can't give up on love right?".
"I guess you're right, yeah", Jade rescued her phone from the deepest corner of the couch, "looks like I'll be needing this...But I'm turning off my notifications for tonight", she snapped. "Woah, how long was that in there?", asked Amaya. "The less you know the better. Now, you wanna tell me what's going on between you and that boy River?". Amaya couldn't help but giggle as she got flashbacks from earlier that night, "is it that obvious?", she asked innocently. "Please, it doesn't take a genius to know that you spent the night with him, so...are you guys getting it on?", Jade rubbed her hands together in excitement. "Slow down, slow down, I mean...I do think we might have something going on. It all started when I was packing my locker after school, then suddenly River walks by -in slow motion obviously - and he gave me those dreamy eyes and I was like 'omg is he looking at me?' and he was like 'hey, I gotta do a movie review for film class, you wanna come over and watch a movie with us?' and I was like 'YAAA' but inside I was like 'is this allowed? Who cares I'm in', and then we watched Hamilton in his dorm and then he walked me here and...yeah, that's pretty much it", exclaimed Amaya trying to get her excitement together - which was a challenge for her because she lost it every time she thought of River.
Jade's tiredness began to expand, her eyelids were growing heavy and falling shut. She wanted to be alone, and dream about Bella. Without thinking rationally Jade used her last bit of energy to say, "Awesome, I'm glad you guys are spending time together", as she yawned, "you should ask him out...before it's too late, speaking of which look at the time! I'm gonna hit the hay, goodnight", and then power walked to her room faster than Poppy could do a cover of 'Rap God'.
