The months went by rather quickly and suddenly it was the end of november, and almost christmas. Everyone are buying gifts for the family they are going to travel home to, everyone except for me. I grew up at an orphanage in london, no family alive. I have my parents names and information, both pure bloods. However they were dead long before i could even imagine ever meeting them. Now i live with it, theres nothing to miss since i never knew them, it makes things easier. Hogwarts was my saviour, i had no idea about what i wanted to do with my life. All i did was read fictional stories, stories that would allow me to escape and go somewhere i didnt feel lost, and then i got my hogwarts letter. Everything suddenly made sense, i was different and i knew that and there it was. My explanation delivered in a stamped envelope.
"for my mom i bought the ugly vase, dad i dont care, and daphne the long stay lipwand, sounds good right?" astoria asked me while we were walking through the snow at hogsmeade.
"yes sounds great" i nodded in response
"should i get theo something? i mean we havent said that we are officaly together but i suppose we kind of are, right?"
"I'm not sure. if you aren't certain if you're even dating perhaps you should wait with gifts and such" i said and raised my eyebrow.
she answered with a loud sigh.
"alice you dont get it, its different. i know he will be sad if i dont get him anything" she begged
"if you think thats the best, then you should do that." i smiled and she did a little jump of excitement, before running into Obscurus Books. I used to go there before i lost the ability to read. I haven't even done anything about it, its too embarassing to tell anyone yet it seems like my only option.
"Noire, seen Greengrass anywhere?" Nott apporached me, he was wearing a very formal coat and a white shirt under it.
"Sorry, not in a while" i responded to not reveal anything about her gift for him.
"do you.. i mean is she going to, or has she perhaps gotten me anything?" he asked awkwardly , i could tell that asking me was his last resort.
"i think so, i would recommend you getting her something regardless." i said while avoiding his gaze in fear that it would make it even more awkvard.
"right. Noted then" He murmured before walking away.
i went over to honeydukes to grab a a butterbeer and relax. I saw pansy practically sitting on top of Malfoy as soon as I walked in, he threw me a disgusted look before continuing his conversation with Goyle.
Hermione was sitting alone at a table with a book in her hand, and there was a crowd of Hufflepuffs at corner table. The rest of the table were filled with random that i didn't know. I stood there awkwardly not really knowing where exactly to sit before Hermione waved me over to her."Hi Alice" she greeted and pulled out a chair beside her for me to sit down
"Granger" I nodded and sat with her.
"What are you reading?" I asked to make conversation
"Manxmouse, have you read it?"
I had tried. But no luck.
"No, I'd like to though. Do you like it?" I asked
"well it is alright" she responded shortly while looking ahead, I followed her gaze to malfoy and his friends.
"How do you live with that" she mumbled and brought her attention back to me.
"I barely survive. You should hear them at night" I sighed and she smiled.
