He brought her in just like he was ordered to do. It was an assignment and he completed it, so why did he feel guilty as he heard her screams echoing throughout the halls? He wanted to hit something to distract him from it. What made it worse was that she was the face he saw almost every night at the end of his nightmares. He had never seen her before. Who was she to him that she appeared in his nightmares?
Her screams finally stopped. He let out a breath he didn't even know he held. She had been kind to him earlier and now she would probably die because of him. He was standing, pacing back and forth wondering what became of the girl he captured. He could hear footsteps walking around frantically. Groups of Hydra soldiers and scientists left the laboratory, many passing by, staring at him. There were so many of them now and he knew it was for the girl but what were they doing to her...
He became angry with himself. Why did he suddenly care about a face that haunted him? He was a soldier for Hydra. He wasn't supposed to care. He clenched his fists. Before he could release his anger by punching a wall, one of the scientists came to his cell. The guards opened the door and they stepped inside as the soldier stepped back. This scientist was almost the same height as him and held a red book with a black star in the middle. He knew what the book was for. They needed him for another mission.
"I'm sure you know why I am here." The scientist spoke. The soldier stood up straight and didn't speak yet. "We're sending you on another mission." The scientist then began to explain what the objective of the mission was.
"And you brought the journal for what? Reassurance?" He scoffed.
"You know why I bring it. Now, are you going to come willingly this time?" He sarcastically asked. The soldier slightly sighed and agreed. "Good. Let's go." They all started to leave but the soldier stopped them.
"What about the girl?" He asked the scientist.
"What about her?"
"What is it you're doing to her? Why did you have me bring her here?" The soldier's voice raised a bit, sounding defensive.
"It's none of your concern! Don't get yourself attached Winter Soldier. She'll only distract you." He warned. "Let's go. You're wasting time." Aggravated, the soldier followed orders, passing by the lab that the girl was taken to. He could see inside the room and for a slight second, he saw her strapped down into the same chair they used on him. When he saw that, he freaked out. They were going to turn her into what he was. A deadly assassin with no control of his life. He couldn't let that happen to her.
Instead of continuing to follow the scientist, he ran into the lab, rushing over to the girl. She was unconscious and soldiers attacked him as he attempted to free her. Slamming a soldier into the rest of them, he was able to break off one restraint from her arm. He tried reaching for the second one but he heard the scientist speak before he could get to it.
"Тоска, ржавый, топка, рассвет, семнадцать, добрый, девять, возвращение на родину, один и товарный вагон (Longing, rusty, firebox, dawn, seventeen, good, nine, homecoming, one and a freight car)." He read the words from the red journal and the soldier let go of the restraints. He could feel himself going under the trance and he turned around, looking at the one who spoke the trigger words.
"готов подчиниться (Ready to comply/obey.)" He replied in Russian. His tone was emotionless and the scientist smiled. Leaving the lab, the soldier followed closely behind him. The soldier tried to fight the control he was under, but it was no use. He then succumbed to the trance and blindly followed orders.
Four Days Later...
