Chapter 1 - Entrance

Presumably, everyone is already aware that a so-called haunted house is a house where people have died unnaturally in it. This term is also used in folklore, which generally refers to unnatural deaths, such as accidents, suicides, homicides and so on. People who died in this manner are said to be unwilling to die as their Yang energy has not been depleted. Therefore, most haunted houses will have strange occurrences happening. Even if such occurrences did not happen, it may become mysterious and unpredictable due to rumors.

Owners of such houses are very pitiful, because many of these haunted houses are originally rented out. So, when the tenants died in it, no one will be willing to rent the house or buy it, unless they found someone who did not know of the house's history and sold it to them. However, nowadays, the law stipulates that if any dispute occurred after selling a haunted house without revealing the house's former history, the buyer of the house would win the lawsuit.

Moreover, even if the house was sold to someone who is not superstitious, the price will also be greatly reduced. Take my neighbor's house for example, a girl has committed suicide due to heartbreak by poisoning herself with gas, and the house's commercial value has been decreased from 300,000 yuan to 60,000 yuan. The difference in price is significant. So, what I have done in recent years is to specifically find out where there is such a haunted house and buy the house at an ultra-low price. Older houses are normally there before being demolished into newer houses, which can make a lot of money. As for newer houses, it can be used as mortgage to the bank to fund some businesses. This cycle is considered fortunate to a good livelihood.

As I often came into contact with haunted houses, I will inevitably be frightened by any stories or background related to the haunted houses. While there might not be any life-threatening disaster, we often encountered some strange things. Therefore, today, I will talk about my dealings with haunted houses these past few years.

The first haunted house that I purchased had an interesting background. The interesting background did not involve the price of the house, yet the rumors surrounding it.

The house was located in a prosperous area and the price should have been quite good. Unfortunately, around the year 2003, the owner of the house and his family of three were robbed and killed in the house. Rumors said that the whole family died in a miserable manner. The owner died next to his safe while his wife died in the bed after being raped. But, the cruelest that is that of their child, who was only in elementary school at that time, as he has been drowned by means of pushing his head into a toilet basin. The case has not been solved for a long time, and no one dared to deal with the house. At that time, the heir to the house's deed was the owner's father, and he ended up planning to renovate of the house in order to wash away the pain of his son's death and to rent and sell it again after renovation.

In order to renovate the house, he found several migrant workers newly arrived from the countryside, and he did not explain the house's history to them. After they negotiated a price, the workers were allowed to live in there while working. During the day, nothing happened and the renovation processes were pretty fast. However, strange things happen during the night. The migrant workers who lived in the house would wake up and found themselves asleep in the corridor, with no idea why they had woke up there. Many people would have taught that they had sleepwalked during their sleep, yet it is impossible for the three of them to have done so at the same time and to choose to sleep at the same place.

Rumors started spreading, and after the workers heard that the family who lived there previously had passed away, they did not dare to work there anymore. The father increased their wages and arranged a guest house for them to sleep in, and asked them to work only during the day. However, strange things started happening even during the day, the tools would stray everywhere as if they had been possessed. The lights of the house would also inexplicably turn on by itself during the night. The neighbors thought it was the workers, but later learned that the workers no longer slept here. However, despite how scary these things are, they did not threaten personal safety, so the workers still work normally, despite becoming more careful.
