Chapter 29 - Yuan Zhen is not Human!

As we have just arrived back to our homes, we didn't know that we have to depart again right away. After returning home, I could only change my clothes and without resting, rushed to the airport to meet Qin Yi Heng.

Both of us didn't talk much along the way and it didn't take much time to take the airline. After getting off the plane, we went to the hotel and booked a room. Seeing that it is still early, Qin Yi Heng urged me to eat a little something, and we arrived at the house at dawn.

The residential area where this house is located is fairly high-end. As for the local housing prices, I didn't do any research in advance as this assignment came unexpectedly. However, judging from the surrounding environment and the appearance of the buildings, the price should be expensive. The property in the community is also very standardized and all entry and exit required a key card. Outsiders need to contact the owner and receive a certificate to enter. Qin Yi Heng and I were unable to go inside the house because of this.

Eventually, I paid the security guard two hundred yuan and made a detailed registration, and we were finally led in.

Following the address on the text message, I found the house which is located in the first floor. In this type of building, there will be small terrace on the first floor which can be planted with grass or flowers by the owner. As there are already thick anti-theft doors and windows at its front and rear area, the terrace is not covered with a tall wall. Therefore, it didn't take much effort for Qin Yi Heng and I to enter it.

As soon as we entered, I saw that there is an already wilted fortune tree planted inside a large pot. It seemed that it has rained recently as the soil is damp. Qin Yi Heng and I emptied the soil on the pot and found a key on the bottom of the pot. Qin Yi Heng took me back to the front door and opened the door with a key.

Qin Yi Heng entered the house while beckoning me to follow him. The house really looked like a haunted house as there was nothing in it except some tattered plastic bags and newspapers that are strewn all across the floor. Dust piled up everywhere and it seemed to have been deserted for a long time. After seeing that, any people who entered this house will immediately feel discomfort.

As we do not know the origin of this house therefore we really felt uncomfortable inside this house. Qin Yi Heng didn't go around, but he walked slowly inside step by step. I followed behind him, and tried to step as lightly as possible.

When it comes to the house's layout, this house should be the living room. I saw that there are four doors around us, needless to say, those rooms must be bedroom or the kitchen, however all the doors are tightly shut. The two of us tried to break the door open, but it was empty. Qin Yi Heng knotted his eyebrows, and brought me to open the second door.

When we open the second room, Qin Yi Heng suddenly stopped midway. As I was behind him, I bumped into him when he stopped. But, when I saw what was inside the room, I can't help but be similarly stupefied.

There is a very large wardrobe placed inside the room, as it is very big I can already see that it will be very hard to move, but what is strange is that the wardrobe has been painted red, and it looked as if it has been painted with blood which really surprised me. However, aside from the red paint, the wardrobe is tied up with a bunch of duct tapes which makes it not look like a wardrobe, but like an upright coffin.

Qin Yi Heng told me not to go near it, and he walked to stand near the wardrobe to inspect it first, then he turned his head to tell me to look at the other rooms and to see whether there is anything in the other rooms which might indicate the purpose behind why that person had summoned here. After receiving his order, I immediately looked at the other rooms, however all the other rooms are empty, except for the closet and bathtub normally found in a bathroom. When I returned to the room after inspecting the other rooms, Qin Yi Heng has opened the duct tapes covering the wardrobe, and even though it must have been very tiring, he had not asked me to help him.

So, I stood by and started to smoke to wait for him, and after he finished opening all the duct tapes, Qin Yi Heng returned to my said and told me that there is a spirit in the wardrobe, however, he himself is not sure what type of spirit is there. As the wardrobe must have been used to seal that spirit inside it, there must be something used to exorcise an evil spirit, but it is very dangerous to do so and can't be done recklessly. Another way is to stay in the bedroom tonight to see what happened in the evening.

He was just telling me this, but in fact he will be the decision maker in the end. When I saw that he might intend to spend the night here, I wanted to prepare a few things. Qin Yi Heng agreed with this idea of mine and said we should divide our tasks. He will be responsible to prepare for the night and to buy sleeping bags and some food while I will be responsible for inquiring about the affairs of this house to the neighbors.

I then wandered around the neighborhood. The scenery was pretty good and is pretty similar to a park. After some time, when the sun is about to set, some old men and women began to come out to play with the fitness equipment in the community. I was waiting for this opportunity and immediately chatted them up. Old people generally love to chat so it didn't take much time to obtain some information, but what I heard chilled me immediately.

According to those old people, the couple who lived in that house was very young and the man seemed to be one of those rich second generation people. They never saw him work but he is never short on money. Originally they lived very happily together, however strange things started to happen after the wife purchased a fox fur coat.

The wife started to hear crying noises in the house, but she didn't really pay attention to it and thought it was because the house was not properly insulated. However, after some time, she started hearing voices, but she couldn't exactly discern what those voices are talking about, and the couple started to become afraid and tried to find the source of those voices in the house. At last, they finally determined that those voices must have originated from the fox fur coat, and after asking a wise person, the wise person said that the fur used for the fur coat does not originate from a captive fox but from a wild one, so when its fur is used to make a coat, it must have be full of grievances.

The couple thought about it and was depressed because the fur coat is very expensive, but as they think there is nothing important than saving their own safety, they later gifted the fur coat to someone else.

As the wife doesn't work, she always felt bored and often come out to talk with the neighbors, so everyone knows this incident about the fox fur coat. However, after the wife said that she is going to gift that fox fur coat to someone else, the couple suddenly disappeared. A few days later, a moving company come and emptied the furniture of the house. As a result, the house has been empty until now.

The story sounded really strange. I immediately told Qin Yi Heng this story when I reunited with Qin Yi Heng.

After Qin Yi Heng heard this, he said that if the story is true then the matter is not difficult because the so-called fox deity, which also include the Great Lord of Three Foxes and the Great Lady of Three Foxes that we commonly hear about, can only speak when they transform and are very influential when they are still alive. Usually these spiritual animals can be cultivated and can absorb spirits. Examples of these animals are foxes, weasels, snakes, spiders, centipedes and even rabbits. They all can be possess humans and cause hysteria. However, this kind of possession is not common. A scientific explanation for this could be because animal's brainwaves can be connected to humans. But, speaking of it from a metaphysics perspective, this is because souls are animals are often reincarnated as humans. But, as the five elements and yin and yang energy between animals and humans are very different, these spiritual creatures can't create a lot of havoc. That fact is however only reserved for ordinary spiritual creatures.

According to legend, some spiritual spirits that have cultivated to a certain level might be able to possess people and help them heal diseases or divination in order to increase their own cultivation level. But, in order to do this they need to set up a "hall" and this process of setting up a hall is called "taking the field." Once a person has been possessed by "taking their field", they will experience hysteria. Previously, there was a person that was gravely ill, but his illness is cured immediately after being possessed. This is also why people often heard about some godly immortals performing miraculous operations can actually appear every different, this is because the spirit possessing them is actually not an animal.
