I woke up thirty minutes earlier than I normally would. I guess the excitement and anticipation towards what the package might be is overpowering my everyday body functions.
I dash into the bathroom, take a quick shower and get ready for work.
For today, I decided to go with a blue skinny jeans, a white blouse shirt and my black Vans off the Wall sneakers.
I'm not really a make up person but I tried some light makeup; just mascara and eye shadow.
"Morning mom", I kiss Henrietta on the cheek as I enter the kitchen.
"Well, some one is in a good mood this morning", she looks at me with a raised brow.
"What are you talking about? Um always happy", I tell her as I make myself some toast.
"Yeah right. What happened?" She put the napkin on the island and placed her hand on her hip, her eyes never leaving my face.
How is it possible that within a short period of time, she has managed to know everything about me? The way she's able to see right through me scares me some times.
"Fine", I pull out a bar stool to sit on and told her about the conversation I had with Michael last night.
When I finished, she just looked at me, not saying anything but continuously tapping her index finger against her cheek.
"I think its odd that Michael would ask you to pick up a package from the park", she finally broke the silence.
"I know, I thought about it, but what if he just wants to surprise me? Maybe make up for the lost time", I tell her.
She nods but doesn't seem convinced enough. "Maybe I should escort you".
"Of course not mom, you'll be at work. I can't let you do that", I can't believe she said that.
"Don't worry about my work, I will figure out something", she insisted.
"I'm sorry mom but I just can't let you do that. Okay you know what, I'll call you when I get to the park and when I'm leaving too".
"Are you sure, you don't want me there?"
"I'm sure mom. Where's dad? I haven't seen him yet", I try to steer the conversation from me. I hope it works though.
"Yeah, he left early. Tody is his presentation", she told me.
Ever since dad was chosen to do the presentation of the newest energy efficient light bulb he's been staying up late and leaving home very early.
"I hope he nails it right", I say and Henrietta chuckles.
She grabbed a lunch box from behind the island and gave it to me, "here's your lunch, I made it for you".
"Thank you mom, you're the best", I hug her and tell her.
"Okay okay, time for you to go to work or you'll be late", she says and walks me to the door.
"I will call you when I get to the park, I love you".
"I love you too, take care of yourself and have a nice day", she kisses my forehead and hugs me before closing the door behind me.
"Hi Sam, how have you been?", I ask once I enter the restaurant. His back was facing me but he wuickily turned and engulfed me in a tight hug.
"My day just got better since you're officially in the building", he made me chuckle.
"I got you something", I tell him and his eyes begin searching what I'm hiding behind me.
"Tell me already", he whined and pouted making me laugh harder earning me glares from Tess and Claire.
