"I love my dress for prom," Jisoo emphasized loudly on her way to the bus.
"I thought you didn't have a date?" Lisa recalled as she caught up to her.
"I don't need one, thank you," Jisoo flipped her hair playfully. "I'm taking myself."
"Of course you are..." Lisa laughed, knowing how independent the older girl was. If there was a person that didn't need a date to attend a party, it was Jisoo.
"I mean, I kind of wish you'd go so I wouldn't have to be all by myself," Jisoo pouted a little. Her lip jutted out as she looked down at Lisa, trying to play the guilt card.
"You won't be by yourself. Somi and Jennie are going, remember?" Lisa brought up as she fell into step with her.
"Yeah, no. I'd rather not be the fifth wheel to those two," Jisoo gagged for dramatic effect. Her teasing was always in good nature. The mentioned girls and their boyfriends always made an effort to include her in their conversations and strove not to make her feel awkward. It almost always worked. Beside that, Jisoo was pretty sure she could rock that party all by herself.
"Oh, yeah," Lisa nodded, considering how awkward it would probably be for Jisoo when they would be enthralled with each other. Speaking of the said girl, Lisa spotted her a few feet away, coming towards them. "Hi Jennie," Lisa greeted her by name when she fell into step with them.
"Hey guys," Jennie waved as she brushed past a few people going in the opposite direction. "What were y'all talking about?"
"Prom," Jisoo answered, raising her eyebrow subtly. She exchanged a knowing look with the younger girl and silently prompted her into action.
"Oh, cute. When Daniel asked me, I almost cried. He was so sweet," Jennie shared, adding to the conversation.
"Oh my god, aww!" Jisoo grinned widely. "How'd he do it?"
"He got the football team to do it on the field. They all held up little signs with letters on them. It spelled out Jennie, prom, and a whole bunch of hearts. It was a little typical, but I was surprised he went out of his way to do it," Jennie gushed happily, smiling do herself as she relived it.
"That's adorable, Jennie," Lisa commented genuinely. The smile she wore was a real one that reflected the happiness she had for her best friend. She did, however, wonder about Chaeyoung's promposal to her or vice versa. If she were to go, that is.
"Yeah. I wonder how Chaeng would do yours," Jennie hinted. "Or... How you would do it for her..."
"I don't know. We haven't talked about prom, so I'm pretty sure she doesn't plan on going either," Lisa assumed.
"Oh. Well, I'll see you guys later," Jennie dismissed herself as they came to a stop in front of their bus. But she'd finally gotten her car keys back, regaining her freedom of travel.
Jisoo and Lisa both mumbled their goodbyes and gave her hugs. As they were boarding the bus, another crowd had gathered in the middle of the street. Apparently there was yet another promposal going on. Lisa, as well as everyone else on the bus, clambered towards the windows to get a better view. Lisa stood on her knees in the seat, earning herself a reprimand from the bus driver. As she stood up straight, she squinted to see the commotion in the brightness of the day.
Jacob had decorated his car windshield quite creatively to ask Bea to prom. The pair had been shipped by quite a few people, so the crowd that knew them were ecstatic to see their otp going to prom together. A bunch of people were gathering around and the mixed reactions were quite noticeable. Either they were smiling broadly at the pair or scowling at them, their jealousy overpowering any congratulatory feelings.
