"The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world.

Who would be born must first destroy a world."

-Hermann Hesse

The world is burning.

When did that happen?

She was just about to start Beacons Initiation. One moment she was about to get launched into the Emerald Forest, the next everything's on fire.

What's the Emerald Forest?

A forest in Vale.

What's Vale?

Where we are.

But we're at home?

Where?

In the woods, on a farm.

I don't remember?

Why don't you remember?

You're me?

Yes.

She woke up to an ice-cold bucket splashed on her, she coughed resisting the water sliding into her lungs.

"Get up you useless spawn!" Her father yelled in her face.

"Not her parents, her Breeders."

"You'll never survive your first battle if you continue like this and you know what will happen?!" He screamed, grabbing and pulling her up by her hair.

"N-no." She gasped, grabbing and pulling at the hands on her hair.

"We'll all be executed!" He said, pulling her out of her room by her hair.

She looked to her mother for help, but she just looked at the young girl with scorn.

"P-please someone help!" She screamed in her mind.

"I hear you, child." A voice spoke.

She liked playing with her dolls all strung up and beautiful.

"Aaaaah!" The woman screamed as the young teenager pulled the needle and yarn through her eyelids.

"Shh shh, the neighbors will hear you!" The young teenager whispered. "Soon you will be beautiful too!" She giggled.

The woman whimpered in response.

------

"Where's the younger one at?" One of the soldiers asked.

"Who?" Another asked.

"You know, off somewhere doing something with her 'dolls'." He said.

"I still don't understand why the general thought to put her with us?!" The soldier asked.

"Because we are the only ones strong enough to put her down should she go rampant."

"Oh right."

------

"There now you're beautiful too just like I promised!" She giggled.

The woman didn't respond.

"Oh, you broke too?" She sighed. "Oh well, time to pick up my toys!" She said picking up the head and putting it in a wooden toy box with the rest of her.

"Bye-bye time to go get more dolls!" She said waving at the toy box in the corner.
