My redemption

I walked slowly to my car. I had royally fucked up. I almost changed right in front ofher. They warned me I wasn't completely ready to go back, but I did not want her to go through everything alone. Maybe I should have listened. Maybe I should have stayed away. She will not understand until she goes through this herself. I sat down in my car turned it on. I drove around for a while then I drove back to the woods. I was greeted by one of the elders upon exiting my car.

"Miles you're back early... what happened my boy?" The elder asked me. Fuck whatwas I going to say that I almost lost my cool? That I almost let outthe biggest secret ever?

"She kissed meand I almost changed right then and there," I admitted.

"My boy she is to be your mate correct?" he said.

" yes but shedoesn't know what she is yet." I ran my fingers through my hair andfelt the frustration and anger rearing their ugly heads. "Why, Whycan't I tell her? Why can't I show her?" I kicked the dirtunderneath my feet. I heard someone walk up behind us. I turnedquickly. I saw her mom. "Edna this is your fault. You left her!"I screamed.

"I did what Ihad to do to protect her."

"you call thisprotecting her?! She's scared and alone and of course, I had to be onetoo. So I had to make her even lonelier."

"If I wouldn'thave left with her father when I did not only would Thomas be deadbut she would be too." Edna tried to reason with me. I wasn'thaving it. I grabbed my keys and ran to my car and took off. It wasafter dark when I returned to Jessie's. I couldn't help but cry. Thetypical guy wouldn't cry but me... I cried.

"And what thehell are you doing here?" Jessie yelled to me from the front door.I turned off the car and went up to the front door. "Jesus, whathappened?"

"I can't tellher and it's killing us both." I sniffled burying my face in mysister's hug.

"you know whyyou cant tell her. If she knows before it happens there is a chanceshe would hate you." she hugged me tightly. "and if she is yourmate then we can't have her hating you."

"Her hating mewould be a blessing at this point. She doesn't even really want totalk to me. She keeps asking where I was. I can't tell her thatwithout spilling the beans about her mom. Or even about her."Jessie let me go and rubbed my arms.

"how about we gofor a run? In the other form." what she said sounded freeing.

"One hour...Then I want to go check on her."

"deal." welost our clothes and took off into the woods. The run felt fantasticnot having to worry about anything for just one hour. Harmony was onmy mind most of the time but I had to focus on the good things thatwere going on. When we came back I checked my phone. Ten missed phonecalls and at least twenty texts from Harmony. I saw this and took offdown the road throwing on my clothes as I went. I arrived outsideclimbed up the tree and went in her window.

"You always knewhow to make an entrance." she commented

"I was withJessie... I'm sorry I came as quick as I could. Are you alright?" Iasked

"I can't sleepand I just want you here." I smiled and took off my shirt and pantsleaving only my boxers.

"Alright baby.I'm here." I said throwing back the covers and hopping into the bedwith her. "come here honey." she came closer laid her head on mychest and placed her hand so carefully onto my abdomen.

"If you do leaveagain promise to take me with you." she said sleepily.

"I promisebabygirl." I said kissing the top of her head. I listened as shefell asleep. I waited a while then my phone began to ring in my pantsacross the room. I snaked out from underneath Harmony to get to myphone. When I got over to my phone the ringing had stopped. Shit Iwas probably in it deep. I looked to see who had called me. It was mydad. Son of a bitch. He had left a voicemail. I don't even know if Iwant to listen to the damned thing. He probably got wind of meyelling at Edna. I pressed the button to listen to the message.
