(Finally updated- Sorry for the wait!)
Rikku had first seen the cat in an alleyway.
She had just been wandering around the city, still getting used to all of the people in one area, and then she heard a light meow. It came from something that was barely conscious. She didn't hear another meow follow it. The meow was how she knew that the cat was very close by.
She wandered around the very near areas before coming across an alleyway. In that alleyway was an injured cat-she was just barely able to call it a cat, it was barely old enough to not go by the word kitten.
The cat seemed to be placed in a small pile of clothes-perhaps it was abandoned? There was a bloody knife nearby it, and the sight of it made her gag. Fresh blood was still dripping off of the knife, which instantly made her crouch near the cat in search of injuries.
She did indeed find many knife-marks on the cat's body. She picked it up, checking the parts it had...or should she say "he had"?
Holding him close, she began heading back to the academy. She wanted to keep him, but she didn't know if she'd be allowed to have him in her dorm at all times. She could tell the teachers that it could be like a hero exercise...that might work.
She looked again at the disheveled little cat in her arms. His fur was a bit tangled and messy, a bit of blood sticking to his coat. It seemed to be a Prussian Blue cat, a kind she had always wanted to own one day, the deep bluish fur giving it away. That didn't mean his fur wasn't soft, however. It was like petting a cloud if clouds were as fluffy as they looked. She found herself lightly petting his stomach as she walked, taking note of the light purrs she heard from the feline. He was missing half of his left ear, and since it wasn't bleeding she knew it was an old wound. He seemed to not have been neutered, so she may have to get that done in the future.
She saw the gates of the school she attended-Monarch Academy-and walked right in. She wandered over to Principal Kowalski's office, knocking lightly on the door.
"Who is it?" Mr. Kowalski's gruff voice sounded through the door.
"I-it's R-Rikku! I-I want to request permission for something!" She said back, being careful not to wake the cat.
"Then come in!"
She opened the door, shivering at the arctic temperatures inside the room, before stepping in. Mr. Kowalski was distracted by paperwork, so he didn't look up at the small girl entering. His flippers shifted through the paper while he signed a few with the pen he held in his beak.
Yes, her principal was a penguin.
"What do you need, Rikku?" He said, his voice muffled by the pen. He must have picked it up after she got the okay to come in because his voice was clear earlier, even through the door.
"Um...I found this cat in the city...he's pretty hurt... May I have permission to keep him in my dorm? You won't see him outside of it! It'll be like a hero exercise! I help him get better like Venus normally does with people that are hurt in accidents!" She stuttered out quickly, getting it over with.
Principal Kowalski dropped his pen on his desk, looked up, and went deep in thought. She expected a no, honestly.
Unexpectedly, Kowalski responded in a careful tone, "We're going to have to get him the proper shots to make sure he doesn't have any diseases, but I think it could be arranged. I can even have Venus come over once a day to help you properly wrap his wounds. Though I doubt you're going to become a healing hero, it's always a good skill to learn in case one can't show up. You have my permission as long as he's been properly taken care of before hand and it has been made sure that he isn't a human with a cat-quirk."
