"Lee Y/N, who cares about that. You're already running late!"
"It'll take a second. Who cares if I'm a little late, mum. I'm sure it's not a big deal" I scream from my room, frantically trying to singlehandedly hook my necklace around my neck as I slip on my heels.
"You realise that you haven't even taken any photos yet?" mum says, approaching my room and leaning against my door frame. "I'm not big on photos anyways. Plus there will be photographers at the venue. Don't stress" I reassure.
Today was the day I was going to attend my grade 12 formal. Prom, dance, however it may be. It was a way of celebrating the end of high school. Not that it was a big deal as it wouldn't be the end of studying for the most of us.
"Mrs Lee, after 10 years of raising this sloth, this is the least we should expect from her" my best friend snickers from behind my mum. If looks could kill, my best friend would have been falling down the stairs at this point.
Lisa Kim, 17 years old, my best friend from grade 2. We met when I transferred schools. She was one of the very few Asians in my class. Not that I would pick and choose my friends based off of their race, it was more like she was the only one who really welcomed me. She's hot headed, can be the biggest pain and, might I add, biggest inconvenience in my life. But she's my other half. We fit together like the perfect puzzle pieces.
"Lisa! You're looking beautiful, as always" the elder says as she turns and faces my friend. Lisa sends my mum and myself a wink before giving us a twirl. I roll my eyes as I secure my earrings, quickly fixing my hair so that it looks effortless but intended.
"Is this what guys feel when they wait for their date? Because it's a real pain in the ass" Lisa says, emphasising the last few words as she motions her chin in my direction.
"You still love me regardless, now lets go" I say, sending my date a wink as I squeeze past my mum, who is still leaning against my door frame. I give her a quick peck on the cheek before I start to head out.
"Have fun you two! Give me a call if you need anything" mum screams, still standing by my room as both Lisa and I head downstairs and out the front door.
Lisa was dressed in a baby blue dress, that accentuates every perfect curve of her body. Her hair was short and jet black, just sitting above her shoulders. She was maybe only an inch or two taller than me, but barely noticeable.
I had opted for a red dress, with a similar style to Lisa's dress. One that hugged my curves so that it was more noticeable than when I wore my school uniform. A slit down my dress, just stopping a little ways up my left knee. My ash brown hair was curled in loose waves and mostly pushed to one side, stopping at the low of my breasts.
Lisa and I weren't really known in school as the popular girls or anything. We had the reputation of the cute little asian girls. But nothing that made the guys swarm us. We figured we would end the year with a bang, showing everyone just what they all missed out on. Not like I actually wanted to date any of the guys at my school. They were just never my cup of tea.
