Senior Project: The World Through My Eyes

My Verse

Get off your butt and live!

Live for the excitement of the unknown-

Don't be fearless but be brave.

The outside has things we've never seen before

And the darkest shadows lurk under the brightest light-

But take a breath and brave your trials and tribulations anyways!

Keep on resisting the binds that hold you back,

Keep placing one foot in front of the other,

and remember when the fear is too much-

That even the smallest of birds learn early to take a leap of faith,

And dive headfirst into the wind.

An assignment I had for English Lit was for us to come up with our own "verse" in reference and response to the movie "The Dead Poets Society" with Robert Williams. This is what I wrote. I wanted it to be a message for myself because I am the furthest from brave and I wanted that to change. After I turned it in I realized that there might be other people out there struggling with themselves like I am so I decided to post it up here for other people to see. I want to be a light that shines the way for people and I figured that this poem and this book would be a good way to start.
