Draco woke up on a Monday morning wishing he was anywhere else. It was October 27 and his first day at a new school, and he was anything but exciting. And in his junior year, too.

"Mother, do I have to go?" he yelled.

She opened his bedroom door and glared at him. "Yes, and don't yell across the house at me," she replied. "Get dressed, I'll drive you,"

He groaned and rolled out of his bed. Damn it, he never wanted to move, although he didn't really have anything to leave behind. At his last school, the students were snobs, so he had never made any friends, but he had friends back in primary school. They didn't stick around.

So he should be excited, right? He'd packed his stuff up two days before (it was a boarding school- even better) and abandoned it in the corner of his bedroom, knowing that he'd pack and unpack it several times and probably leave behind something important.

When his mother was registering him, he had to take a long personality test, because apparently, that's how the school rolled, or something. Draco didn't really know.

What would he wear on his first day? He had no idea. Black jeans and a normal shirt? A tie? Hell no, why would he wear a tie to his first day of school? He'd wear black jeans and a t-shirt with a jacket, that would be appropriate, right? Yeah.

He didn't eat breakfast. He brushed his teeth and grabbed his stuff, tripping on the stairs.

"Shit," he mumbled, making sure his mother wouldn't hear (she didn't like when he cursed).

"Are you ready?" his mother asked, getting into the car.

"No," he said, putting his belongings in the trunk. "But let's go."

The drive there was nerve-wracking. Draco watched the trees and greenery pass by in silence.

"Are you looking forward to having new friends?" His mother asked.

"Sure," he replied.

She put her arm on his shoulder. "Hey, it's gonna be fine."

"Yeah," he replied, not looking at her.

Fuck, he's starting at a new school, and obviously, all of the students are going to already have made friends. No room for him, probably, which was fine because that was what he was used to.

When they arrived, he convinced his mother not to go inside with him.

"Won't they want to meet me?" she asked.

"No, Mother, I'm sure it'll be fine," he said (although he didn't actually know.)

She looked at him for a minute, as if memorizing his face. "Okay. I love you."

He waved at her. "Love you too," he said.

The school was huge. The halls were empty, probably because people were in class, he could only assume. Draco followed a sign that led to the headmaster's office and knocked.

"Enter," a gentle voice called, and Draco opened the door to find an old man with a rather long beard. "Ah, you must be Draco Malfoy. Welcome to Hogwarts, Mr. Malfoy."

"Uh, yeah. Thanks," Draco replied.

"Your results from the personality test have placed you in the Slytherin House."

"What's a Slytherin...?" Draco asked.

"At Hogwarts, we want our students to work together and have some sort of unity while striving to be their best. So the founders of this school created four separate houses; Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. The personality test is usually taken when you're a first-year in the school, but since you've just transferred, you took it recently. The rest of the time you're in this prestigious school, you'll be a Slytherin."
