LITTLE DID HE KNOW

Obsequies were performed a few days after the horrendous incidence:

10:18 am

Aashna was on her way to the dairy to buy milk when she saw a tall and slender shadow follow her. She stopped at her spot and turned around to find whose shadow it was.

"Aashna, I have been trying to meet you from the past few days but you aren't coming to play at night or at all. I called you so many times but you didn't recieve any of my calls." Achintya said.

Aashna was dejected to see Achintya as she was trying her best to avoid conversation with him after the sorrowful demise of Rhea.

She gave him a awkward low bow nod unable to meet his eyes. After all how would she meet his eyes? How would she tell him the horrifying incidence? Tell him that Rhea is no more....

"Anyway, I wanted to tell you a dream I had recently" Achintya was quick to change the topic.

"Sur..Sure" she stammered.

"I had a dream, at the afternoon of the same day Rhea had left."

Aashna heavily gulped hearing Rhea's name from his mouth.

"In that dream, we both were sitting on the meadow which is in the vicinity of our society where I took her the night before she left. And guess what? In the dream, she confessed her feelings to me and so did I. And then soon.... a thick stream of moonlight flashed on us and everything around us darken. I was staring at her deep agate grey eyes which assured me that she will always be with me" Achintya narrated his dream while having a constant smile on his face.

Tears rimmed Aashna's eyes as she heard his dream. Her body froze being unable to react. She had no words to reply. She stood static at her position.

Was it a coincidence that Achintya dreamt this beautiful dream at the exact time Rhea was on her last breath? The very same afternoon?

After a few seconds, she attempted at masking her corny feelings by covering her face with her hands and quickly wiping the tears. She gained her composure back and gave him a weak grin instead of a genuine smile.

"Will you please tell her that I miss her?"

"Yes, I will tell her" Aashna finally uttered in a feeble voice.

I miss her too Achintya... I miss her too...

She whispered under her breath in decibels inaudible for Achintya to hear and continued to walk in the direction of the dairy when tears started dribbling down her cheeks.

The End.
