CHAPTER 4
7:30 am
Through the window passed hues of yellow and green, brightening the bedroom. Flashing sunrays kissed parts of my face and unable to bear it, I finally opened my eyes from light sleep.
Aashna's room was in severe need of opaque curtains.
I sat in the cozy bed and stretched my arms to give out a yawn. Aashna laid beside me, face covered with sheets to hide it from sunshine and saliva drooling out from her partially open mouth.
It was not a pleasant sight to wake up to in the morning.
Now that I had woken up early in the morning, I strode towards the windows. The morning here was unlike the typical morning in an authentic village. Our society rested in the city part of Ratnagiri and not the village area where some of ours rarely visited relatives lived.
The dandelion - a token of appreciation given by Achintya, stayed in same condition I had placed it on the window sill last night.
"Boo!"
Panic capturing every ounce of me, all at once, I turned around to check who dared to intrude my solitude.
It was Aashna, as she hunched, with her hands shaped as claws to terrorize me early morning.
"Gosh! It was you." I placed my hand on my heart as a sign of relief and sighed.
"Who else would it be? The guy who is making you constantly switch sides on bed? The boy you keep thinking about?"
I knew she was talking about Achintya. Every since the badminton match and the dandelion exchange, Achintya had managed to snatch rightful amount of my night sleep. Tugging myself inside the covers, I dreamt about romantic scenes between him and me in the night. I had crushes over a couple of boys in my school but they didn't give me a sleepless eye or had much of my attention. This case was surely more than attraction, I believe.
Anyways, I tried to play it safe.
"Who are you talking about? I just got scared seeing you awake at this time because I am the one who always scares you off, not you. Also, why did you wake up so early?" my attempts at changing the topic.
But she didn't seem to shift her attention from the questions she asked, curiosity made her eyes twinkle.
'You know who I am referring to, don't you?" she smirked, wanting me to give her more details.
She was my sister and a confidante since aeons, confiding in her seemed no tough job but it did today. After a few minutes of thinking, I renounced and started confronting.
"So heres the deal. I have had a crushes over a couple of boys in my school and have told you about them from time to time."
Aashna nodded in affirmation, signaling me to continue.
"I mean, its normal, isn't it? But Achintya's case for me is different. I met that boy one night ago and till yesterday night I already felt attracted to him and I am pretty sure so is he," I paused. "That night, after the badminton match when we all were talking, his way of talking, his body language, his enunciation and speech impressed me. But I never actually fell for a boy this quick and its moving too fast. I don't know how is it happening so quick," I sighed.
