Chapter 13: The sword dance

"Seriously! Who's the person engaged with the prince?"

"How dare she steal our prince! We wanted to know who she was and which family she came from?!"

Others mumble each other as I pretend to not listen to them and eat my food. I look at my father, looking nervous and pretending to drink his wine. I can hear their voices sounded angry and jealous at the same time. Sheng is very famous and has a lot of fans but this is really awkward.

Qiao Zhu looked at me, "Sister Xue'er, are you engaged with the 3rd prince?" She whispers with an amusing smile so the others won't hear her.

I put my finger on my lip and hushed her, "Shhh! I don't want to know that others that I'm engaged yet until his majesty announced the marriage in the end." She nodded as I noticed.

Qiao Lian stood up and went to the stage as she bowed down to the royal family and spoke, "Your majesty, I would like to perform with my skill." She said with a proud face.

The musicians began to play their instrument as she began to dance by lifting her very long silk sleeve that covered her hands and further extended. The hanging part was used to make movements as she moved her feet. She likes showing off her move in front of others and revealing her arms.

All the noble in the hall are amazed by her dance and her beauty as she danced flawlessly. Qiao Lian is a very excellent dancer and wanted to gain attention from everyone or even Xiao Wen as he gazed at her dance which makes her happy.

I drank tea and felt bored watching her dance but I like to listen to Qiao Zhu's music. Her music was amazing and elegant while playing in my last life. Qiao Lian always loves showing off her skill in front of others.

My mind snapped about her mother's bracelet which was curious why it smelled like seed much. It's a good thing, lady Kaka is at the other side of the seat so she won't hear us, "Zhu'er, I need to tell you something."

"Yes but why did you ask me about my mother's bracelet?" She whispered asked.

"There's something wrong with her bracelet. I smell something like the seeds like a medicine coming from the bracelet." I explained softly and did not let Lady Kaka notice our conversation.

"What do you mean there's a smell from her bracelet?"

"I have a sensitive nose but you must investigate it secretly and don't let your stepmother or sister know... Have you ever noticed anything changes about your mother's health?"

Qiao Zhu listened to my words carefully and realised something wrong about her mother in the past, "Yes, I notice something wrong about my mother's health. For 9 years, she's been trying to get pregnant so she would bear a child but the doctor said that she couldn't get pregnant. My father didn't care about the heir and only cared for my mother, which is always curious why she couldn't get pregnant even though her womb wasn't damaged."
