The Reveal

Though the atmosphere was bright and cheery, Jasmine was tense. It was Christmas morning; and this year, she was hosting both her and Anthony's families at their house. Jasmine had decided that she wanted to have a party with both families this year as an easy way to get everyone together. She had been trying to figure out a way to get both sides in the same place for quite a while now because she had a very big surprise. She was pregnant. It had been a couple weeks sine she had found out; but with Anthony being away for work and all of her family living in different parts of the world, it had been extremely difficult for her to find her time to share the news with anybody. Now,on this calm Christmas morning, Jasmine had given herself a golden opportunity to do just that.

But of course, like every other soon-to-be-mother, she had to tell them in the form of a cute, but slightly obnoxious, reveal. She discreetly made her way upstairs to her bedroom and headed towards her closet. Hidden in the back corner was four boxes: one for her mom, one for her dad, one for Anthony's mom, and one for Anthony. Covered in a beautiful pink and green wrapping paper and having each of their names written out perfectly in Sharpie marker on the top, the boxes looked like normal Christmas presents.

Once back downstairs, with the boxes in hand, Jasmine called all of her family to the living room. After making sure that the four gift recipients were sitting together, she placed the boxes neatly in front of them. "I know that we finished opening gifts a while ago, but I remembered that I had these. I really wanted everyone to see you guys open these, and I hope you like them," she smiled, feeling anxious in the best way possible, "You can open them." The four of them ripped open the boxes, eager to see what was inside, but their excitement soon turned to confusion upon seeing their gifts.

"Jasmine, sweetheart, what is this?" Kim mumbled. Jasmine just giggled and waited for them to catch on.

"I don't have any grandchildren yet," Ron laughed, "I figured you'd know that. You're my only kid." This got laughs from the rest of the family, including Jasmine. Each person had received a white shirt detailing their relationship to the baby,which Ron's case said, "I'm the Grandpa."

By this point, it was painfully obvious that Anthony had caught on. He looked around in shock trying to find the right words to say. "Are you being serious?" He asked, still looking as shocked as ever. She nodded and smiled.

"Give me one second. I'll be right back." Jasmine rushed upstairs and came back with two pregnancy tests, both positive.

"Jas..." Anthony whispered looking down at the tests, "I can't believe this." A smile spread across his face as he looked at his wife.

"Can someone please explain what's going on?" Mildred asked, still looking extremely confused.

"She's pregnant, Ma. We're having a baby," Anthony explained happily.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, mama, I'm having a baby," Jasmine told Mildred. The family erupted into cheers and hugs, excited about the new addition to their lives.
