Chapter 7

When we got back to the lodge, I went to the room. I stayed in there for what felt like hours. Finally, Lena returned home. She came into the room with coffees in her hands. She smiled and handed me a coffee claiming she woke up not too long ago to get some caffeine in her system.

I nodded and pretended to not know that it was a lie. She tried to start a conversation and I just nodded along. Eventually she left the room to bring MJ her coffee.

I threw myself onto the bed. I didn't want to leave this room though I knew I had to. If I didn't this whole act thing might fail and even though I'm upset with them— I couldn't do that to them.

I lay there for a little while longer

Later on around 8ish, Lena comes back saying that we had to get ready for a family day outing. I tell her okay and walk out of the room without another word. I think she could tell something was wrong.

We arrive at skiing resort and walk inside. Turns out the Jones family closed the whole place so it was just going to be family. Off to the side, MJ and Thomas stood whispering to each other. I roll my eyes and tell Lena I had to go to the bathroom. She kindly told me where it was and even offered to take me, but I told her I could find it.

I finish using the restroom as I wash my hands, Thomas walks in. Instead of going to the bathroom, he stands by the door waiting for me to finish.

I dry my hands off and turn towards him

"Are they waiting for me?"

He shakes his head

"You know, MJ said you're like annoying golden boy, but all I'm seeing is an asshole" The guy I hung out with yesterday was gone. His tone was cold and harsh.

I frown at him

"What are you talking about?"

"MJ told me that you saw and I know it's frustrating to be left in the dark, but you don't understand-"

I clench my jaw

"I'm sorry... I just don't understand anything going on" I shout

I was disappointed in myself

Thomas just shakes his head and looks down

"I can't tell you....I want to Peter. I like you, but I can't and you got to understand that." Then he left

After a couple of minutes, I stumble back into the lobby. No one was in there. I was a little relieved till I see Lena slumped at the couches. I sigh and walk over to her.

She smiles sadly at me when I approach

"Hey"

I struggle to smile at her as I sit next to her.

"Hi"

Silence

"I was just waiting for you. They went into the dining area for breakfast" she stands up and holds her hand out.
