I heard someone approach behind me. I quickly wiped my eyes. It was elctive time now, soon school would be over and I could sneak home to my room. I would have to sprint if I was going to get there before my mom. I could've left hours ago but it was a medium temperature, over cast day and I, especially, love days like this. Right now I was camped out in a tree on the edge of the school property. I, also, love climbing trees, so camping out in a tree on the perfect temp. day and not seeing my mom was really the best option to avoid her. Anyways, I heard someone approach and I figured it was either someone looking for me, Clary, or the tree trimmers. Sure enough when I silently peered down it was Clary. She was calling my name. I guess she never figured out I like to climb trees. She walks by and I drop silently by her. " Hey." I say quietly. She jumped about a mile high. " Gods, Kayla. How can you be so silent? I've seen you trip on your own feet before." " I can be silent and graceful if I want to." "I just never thought you could be that silent." 'Oh. Ya, I can." " Mhm. So, what's up? You weren't in English and electives today. You never miss cupcake class. You were distant and looked like you were trying to avoid everyone around you, especially your mo... Oh. Something happened between you guys didn't it? " "You ever climb trees?" "Not really..." "C'mon I'll teach you." "I don't want to. We need to talk about this." " Ok, how 'bout this. If I help you climb this tree, I'll tell you all about what happened, and you have to climb as high as I tell you." "Ok, I guess." Minutes later we were at the top of the tree, where we could talk in low tones, without anyone hearing. I wasn't ready to share my tale with the world, just a select few.
