"Ugh! Why do teachers have to do lectures every other day! Don't they realize they're wasting their time half of us are asleep!" I thought. I mean Mom doesn't usually do lectures she knows they're a waste, I make sure to tell her so almost every time she does one. So anywho, during this lecture, it was an especially long one, I started thinking about my cute little Saint Bernard pup, Samson, back at home. The first thing I thought about him was "I hope he knows where the dry food is to get himself breakfast." We always keep the food in a low cupboard because Samson's old owners taught him how to feed himself and get them bananas and stuff. The owners were a very old couple who needed help getting around sometimes, that's why Sammy ended up at our house, the couple went into a old folks home. I made sure to perfect his skill of getting food as soon as I learned he could because our lives are so busy we often forget, or run out of time, for lots of stuff. For example, today after school I have Piano lessons then I have about an hour of homework, two of my teachers give thirty minutes evry day, maybe even more then I have to go to Volleyball practice. So I only have about a half hour to an hour of free time after school every day. My mom says it's good to be busy but sometimes it gets tiring. Another thing that does not help at all is that I spend everyother weekend at my dad's house in Sacramento. My parents divorced when I was about seven. I only remember bits and pieces of the divorce, like the days and nights of constant fighting and hearing mom cry late into the night when I stayed up reading. Anyway I thought all of this while sitting in Mom's lecture when I thought "Hey one good thing comes out of lectures, I can get extra reading time out of it!!" So I brought my Iphone 5c white out of my "secret" pocket in my backpack and started reading my newest book series The Heroes of Olympus. I was reading on my phone instead of a regular book because recently I downloaded a Kindle reading app and made an Amazon Kindle book account, so I would always have a book with me. My Iphone goes every where I go ever since I entered the twenty-first century about a year and a half ago for my birthday. I was just finishing the last chapter when all of a sudden, "Kayla Morgan!! I can see you reading, ya know. Now can you tell the class about the Renaissance and what a 'Renaissance Man' is!?" Lucky for me my mom calls me a Renaissance Woman all the time and I happen to know what both that and the Renaissance were, unlike my best friend Clarisse, known to me as Clary because she has always wanted to be called that but she doesn't have the courage to say so. In fact Clary was coming over to hang out and study today. She loves to come over to my house 'cause my mom is, like, in love with her or something and she, in turn, worships the ground my mom walks on. Clary is always coming over for another reason, her dad is a little unstable and her mom doesn't do anything about it, she is in his line of fire too. By unstable I mean that he gets mad at any little thing and, unluckily, Clary is a teen so she is in puberty and gets mad about the little things, also. Clary only has one other brother still living in that house with her, the others moved away as soon as they were old enough to fend for themselves. Her dad was always yelling and hitting anybody in the house. To make matters worse her brother is a three year old, later he would be able to fight for himself against the wild attacks but for now Clary was the only thing between her father and Simon. Simon stays at a day care and we walk over to get him after school to hang at my house. Thye usually stay until about an hour before Simon's bed time to walk through the back wash. The back wash is all dried up and serves as a "secret" trail for many kids like me and Clary. A loud "Bbbrriinngggg!!" interrupts my thoughts. Time to go to English.
