Understanding Each Other

Katie's Narrative
"I wish I could tell you pups the whole story but at the moment, I'm still not comfortable about telling it to you guys. I guess I'll eventually tell you when I'm ready but for now I just can't do it" I really don't want to let the pups know the truth yet, despite the years we've been apart, I couldn't tell them

I felt a hand on mine and saw it was Ryder comforting me "it's ok, we don't want to pressure you, we can wait until you're good and ready" he reassured God he's good at this thankfully the pups understood my situation as well

"Forget about me, I want to know about you Pups! Oh wait! I forgot you're not pups anymore" that's gonna be an adjustment

They giggled and chuckled "it's fine Katie!" Skye nuzzles the blonde

"I see that most of you pups have families now! I'm so happy for you!" I said enthusiastically

I saw the puppies played at the other side of the room with the Paw patrol pups old toys. They're all so cute! It feels nostalgic to be honest,

"Me and Everest ended up getting married and have 2 adorable pups! Mason! Marinette! C'mere for a sec!" Marshall called out his kids

Both of them had Everest's body and fur color while they inherited Marshall's spots and eye colour. Both were charging at their dad and tackled him, I laughed at their wholesome moment

"And let's not forget Mountain!" Everest introduce a.......brown Chow Chow? He was hiding behind Everest's hind legs

"Wait he's a Chow? How?" I asked

"We found him in the mountains when we were on a mission to rescue climbers. He didn't have a chip or anyone so me and Marshall decided to adopt him

"That's so kind of you to do!" I said. These pups are genuine heroes

Ryder decided to step in the conversation "also did you know about Zuma and Rocky?" He asked

"No? What is it?" I asked as he smirked "turns out that Rocky is bisexual, he dated Everest before Marshall married her" I gasped at this information as Everest just nodded in agreement

"Well I ended up getting her so..." Marshall said and pulled out his tongue taunting Rocky as he just rolled his eyes

"And what does Zuma got to do about this?" I questioned "He's pansexual and Him and Rocky got engaged last month and adopted a little Blue Heeler they found in the junk yard" Ryder finished as the Blue Heeler pup went up to me and tried to pull my clothes with his tiny mouth "Bandit no" Zuma chuckled as he picked up his son "awww pups! You guys are growing up so fast!" I say as I wiped a year from my eye

"And Rubble, well. He's a single dad" Ryder calmly said "really? What happened to the mother?" I said and they seemed a bit sad

"Well the mom is Sweetie and she didn't accepted her child so Rubble decided to take care of Boulder as the Good and responsible pup he is" Ryder explained

"It's hard being a single father but hey, I got all my kids attention to myself!" Rubble happily said as he hugged his little pup

"You guys are all grown up, I'm so disappointed on myself that I never manage to even see you process all the things you've been through" I said and the pups all suddenly hugged me "don't worry kat! Whats important is that you're here now!" Skye said and hugged her as I hugged back

I'm so happy that I get to see them again

The pups went outside the lookout to enjoy the rest of the party, Ryder and I were left inside the lookout talking about old memories. I missed this feeling.

After a few laughs and chuckles. I decided to talk to him in relation of my disappearance

No one's Pov

"Hey...can I ask you something?" She asked

"Sure, what is it" he replied calmly. Katie fidgeted with her fingers and exhaled softly "What was your reaction when you realize I disappeared?" She said. He was silent for a second but soon answered "I was in disbelief I guess, you didn't tell us you were leaving. I didnt mind it at first, I just thought you were with your grandma, but after a few months and you haven't been in contact with us I started to feel worried. I kept thinking you'll be back one day but I never expected it would take 10 years hehe...." He said and Katie was in a guilty state. She exhaled slowly "I'm sorry. I didn't even expect the things that happened to me as well. You were right, I did went to my Grandma's house but something happened that would be the reason why I was gone, honestly I thought a trip to Granny would take like 2 or 3 days so I didn't bother telling you guys" Katie replied and looked away from him avoiding eye contact as he smiled purely and held her hand gently

He remained eyeing on her peach like hand and rubbing his thumb on the back of her soft knuckles. Feeling her touch that he missed " I admit I lost hope after a few years of your disappearance. I mean we've been friends for who knows how long. And all of a sudden, you being gone for such a long period of time broke something inside of me" he continues to say as he brought her hands to the side of his face, nuzzling it as she blushed lightly "I was broken. The pups tried to tell me that you'll be back but I never believe it, but I had to suck it up and face reality for the sake of the pups and the Town so I dated Ace for a few months but she knew I wasn't happy, I was just trying to distract myself so we broke up, but we're still in contact and she's engaged to Danny now. After the break up the pups decided to let me stay in Barkingburg. They thought a whole new setting would take my mind off some things I guess. I stayed there for a few days until the Princess of Barkingburg invited me to the castle and I didnt expect her to confess that she loves me but I never felt any love interest to her so I kinda turned it down ehe... She was heartbroken and I couldn't bare to see her such in a devastating state so I left Barkingburg and went home and thought to myself that I could do it, I manage to get myself to be more active for the time being..." he lets go of her hand and went closer to her. Placing a hand under her chin "...but when I heard you were back, I felt something I haven't been feeling for the past 10 years now" he smiled softly closing in to her face

"Ryder..." She said as her heartbeats faster

A passionate kiss was placed on her rosy lips as he cupped her cheek. Her being in shocked didn't resist yet she was in complete ecstacy

He pulled away from her to see tears flowing as it drips on her cheek

"I'm sorry...." She said as she covered her mouth crying quietly "I never knew I tortured you after all these years I've been gone. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" she repeatedly says crying into her hands. Ryder was shocked yet showed his calmness and hugged her lightly

"It doesn't matter anymore, you're back and that's what's important and now..." He departed from the hugged and look at her as he wiped the tears from her eyes using his thumb "You're mine" he smiles and kisses her forehead

She buried her face into his chest and cried softly for a while as he caressed her blonde hair as the music of the party muffled around the room leaving both of them in their own embrace
