Okay, so let's start from the beginning. When I was younger I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The monthly "gripe-out sessions" as I like to call them, checking my blood sugar, injecting insulin, it all sucks. But I guess I got used to it all after a while.
So, fast forward to the now. Yep, just a fairly normal teenage girl who's friend is trying to convince her to go out and socialize.
"Come on Naomi! Can't you just go to on basketball game with me? You could use some Vitamin D." My friend Addison whined.
"Dude, One, you know that's not my thing, I'm not a big fan of people. Two, all you do is talk about how cute the guys are. And numba Three," I took in a deep breath just to give it some humor, "We'll be inside the whole time, so I won't get any Vitamin D. So haha."
"UGHH!" she groaned in frustration, "What can I do to get you to come with me?"
"Hmmm...well. You could buy me some nachos." I said
I could just imagine her rolling her eyes. She exhaled, "Seriously? I could've been buying you nachos a long time ago if you had cooperated!"
I tried to stifle the laugh, my cheeks were as big as a balloon with my hand over my mouth. Finally, I burst out laughing. She chimed in.
"ARGGH. Fine, come pick me up whenever. I didn't change after school so I'll wear this." I gave in.
"Okay, I'm already here."
I jumped off my bed and ran to look out of my window, the long white curtains entangling me. I throw my hands up in the air giving her the "What the hell" look and laugh. Before I ran out of the house I texted my mom letting her know where I was going.
I run to the backseat door and sit back there alone and she looks into the rearview mirror and then saying, "You are indeed one strange girl."
We drove for about 10 minutes and pulled up to the school. We sat for about 5 minutes so she could fix her makeup and FINALLY went inside.
It wasn't very exciting in my opinion. Most of the people just sat there on their phones or went to concession.
"Hey Addi, where's the nacho money?" I said in my best gangster voice.
"Dang Flabbit! I thought that you would forget."she said.
"You seriously think I'd forget about food?"
She dug through her wallet and gave me five dollars. I assumed that the concession stand was in the lobby. My assumption was correct.
A middle aged woman with a southern accent walked up do the front.
"What would you like sugar?"she asked.
"Uhh, some nachos please?"
"Sorry hun, we're out." she said.
I sighed, which blew a strand of hair out of my face. How could you run out of nachos? O-o
"Uhh...I'll just have some Frito Chili Pie then."
I got my food and was half way to my seat and suddenly somebody bumped into me. This made me fall down and drop my food, in which in got all over myself...and they guy.
"OHHH." Is all I heard from the bleachers.
He tried helping me get up but that resulted in our heads having a collision.
"OHHHH!" From the people bleachers, once again.
Finally, we entered the lobby. And I got a good look at him. Well, let's say that he's the one who got the food all over him.
"OH MY GOSH. I'M SO SORRY."
"I-it's fine. I'm kinda used to it." I laughed.
He raised an eyebrow.
"My middle name should be clutz. I talk a lot...sorry." I rubbed my arm.
"You haven't heard someone talk a lot until you've met my sister!" He said, trying to break the tension.
"What's your name? Not in a creepy way!"
He held out his hand that had some Frito Chili Pie on it.
"Noah...what's yours?" He asked
I reached for his hand and shook it, "Naomi."
He smiled,"Well...see you around Naomi?"
"Yeah." I waved
Wow...I think I'll come to basketball games more often.
