Mikhail hacked. The spear had pierced right through his heart. From his mouth came a spray of dark crimson blood. Curt smiled. "Good thing you're a demigod. Now you can't tell anyone what you read." he hissed. Mikhail glared. Curt ripped the spear out, and Mikhail fell to the floor, still clutching the book. "Well, there's still something I can do." He coughed. He held the book tightly within his grasp, and using the last of his magic, his green flames began to burn the book.

Curt gasped. He immediately drove the spear into Mikhail's head. This worked, and Mikhail, with a loud gasp, went limp, his ginger hair slowly being dyed red with his blood. As he did, the ashes of the book dropped from his hands. Curt noticed that a small piece had remained intact, despite it being the size of a cup lid. Curt immediately shoved it in his pocket and knelt beside the corpse. "Well, he is definitely dead." He began to hear running coming from the aisles of the library.

"Mikhail??" Jaime called. "We heard yelling and gasping, is everything okay?" Curt stood up to see Jamie and Tanner at the entrance to the common area. Jamie looked horrified. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM??" She screeched, as her irises and pupils disappeared and her corneas became a solid glowing purple. Now Curt knew he was in danger. Jamie only did that when she was furious, and when she was, she was extremely dangerous. Tanner put a hand on her shoulder. "Wait, look at what's in Mikhail's hand." he said, pointing at the body. The pages of the book had been turned to ash, but Curt had killed him before the spine had been damaged. The spine of course read Μοίρα.

Jamie's eyes returned to normal. "He...he read the book." she said softly. Curt relaxed a little. "Yes. I walked in and he was reading it. I let my anger get the best of me, I killed him for betraying you, Your Majesty." he said, removing his golden Trojan helmet. Tanner looked at Jamie. "I mean, he sounds sincere. I believe him." he said. Jamie turned to him. "Why aren't you phased by this? Knowledge is DEAD, and everyone's fate is lost. Why are you so calm??" she asked. Tanner thought a second. "Well I never really liked that guy. And how does it affect us? We don't know what our fates were anyway. Nobody else even knows that fate is a real thing. It really doesn't make a difference." he said. Jamie sighed.

"There's something you need to know about the book. For every misfortune fate causes, every soul that fate has taken, a demon resides in that book. So long as the book is intact, no harm will come to us. But now these creatures are free, not just in our realm, but in the realm of humans too. The bigger the tragedy, the more dangerous the spirit that comes from it. These things will drain your blood and make you a husk of your former self, hellbent on nothing but death and killing everyone you see." she explained.

Tanner looked wide-eyed. "How....do you know that?" he asked. "Because as a Goddess of Death, I know where demons are, and everything about them." she said. Tanner looked relieved. "So you can control them? They won't harm us?" he asked her. Jamie looked at him grimly. "No. They're still a huge threat to all of us, and if one gets to us, we can't be stopped, since we are immortal." she said. "So what do we do?" Curt asked with urgency. Jamie looked him dead in the eyes.

"We scour the Earth, and we will find and kill each and every one before the world itself is destroyed." she said.
