The next morning, Dazai woke him with gentle strokes through his hair. He'd pushed it back, off his forehead, and was slowly combing his fingers through it.

Akutagawa sighed, keeping his eyes closed as he savored the feeling of being touched so lovingly.

Dazai smiled a little, these actions were unusual for him, but he didn't mind giving more effort for Akutagawa.

"Good morning, Ryū." Dazai mumbled, placing a kiss underneath his eye, right above his cheekbone.

Akutagawa hummed, blinking his eyes open. "You're still not forgiven. And I'm not leaving Gin."

Dazai pouted, letting his hand fall to Akutagawa's chest. "After how hard I worked to keep you alive last night? You still won't forgive me?"

The wounded boy scoffed, tilting his head up a little and away from Dazai. "That was for your own personal gain."

The brunette chuckled slightly, moving to trail a few soft kisses up the younger's neck. "We'll help Gin escape too."

He paused. "And, I want to apologize."

Akutagawa froze, slowly turning to look at the older after a few seconds. "I-.. What?" He whispered.

Dazai smiled again, another small one but Akutagawa could see the emotion behind it. Since when did Dazai have those?

"I said, I'm sorry, Akutagawa. I never should have treated you how I did in the Port Mafia. And I'm sorry for leaving you, when I knew you needed help and couldn't leave on your own. I should have.. been more considerate."

Dazai finished, reverting back to the statement he used last night as well.

Considerate. Is that what they'd been teaching him at the agency?

Akutagawa sighed again, turning his head to look back up at the ceiling. "You've got a lot to make up for, so I guess that's a start, but, um, I forgive you.."

The younger boy's words got softer as he went on. Having started off almost harsh before he realized the other was actually trying here.

It might take some time, especially for Dazai, but he was almost sure they could figure this out.

If he knew anything about Dazai, it was that once the older set his mind out to do something - he would do it.

Dazai hummed, leaning in to kiss Akutagawa's cheek. "Does that mean I can have a kiss? A real one?"

Akutagawa feigned a thinking face, turning his head so Dazai could see his fake expression clearer. "Hmm, If.. you promise to cook us breakfast afterwards."

Dazai smiled again, chuckling. "Of course, darling." He teased.

Akutagawa blushed, rolling his eyes. "Shut up. You don't talk like that."

Dazai chuckled as he pressed his lips to the younger's, smiling as they kissed. "Who says I can't change? Especially now. And for you."

Akutagawa groaned and pushed him away as he blushed again. "Gross. Stop." He chuckled.

Dazai laughed again and sat up. "Alright, alright. Come on, let's go make breakfast."

Akutagawa scoffed, shaking his head. "You promised you would cook breakfast. I never said anything about helping you. Besides, I'm injured, you should be letting me rest."

Dazai shook his head, keeping his smile, and slipped out of bed. "Hm, you're right, but after breakfast we're changing your bandages; since you're so injured."

Akutagawa's jaw dropped as he stuttered and called after him. "That's not what I meant! Wait, Dazai, I can help you!"

"Too late." The older winked and continued to laugh as he left the room and went to make them both breakfast.
