Dashing back through the maze-like hallways was one of the things I'll never ever do again. Where was I going? Am I on the right path?
The worst part? I didn't see anyone. Like I was in some sort of zombie apocalypse, the hallways were dead.
Wiping my forehead with my hand, I heard a series of murmurs coming from the path I was about to cross. Finally, someone's here! Or am I just hearing things? Snap out of it, Alex.
I slowly creeped on the side of the wall to see who it was, or were since I heard multiple voices.
It was Jack! And Flora.
I gasped in shock since they were like super close to each other, literally. I quickly retreated back while tightly covering my mouth, hoping that they didn't hear or better yet, see me. Their conversation died down so I figured they heard it.
I waited until they started to talk then I tucked my long brown hair behind my ears so I could hear properly. I leaned towards the intersection of the hallway, not even bothered looking anymore, afraid they might see me this time.
"Jack, I don't want you near her." Flora advised aggresively, like she was forcing him.
"Who, Alex? You can't do that, Flora." Jack argued while chortling. I slowly grinned while he was telling her that. Who is she anyways to command him to do such a thing? She doesn't even know me, she doesn't know us. "I mean, you don't even know her." He added. He read my mind. We are so alike.
"You don't want to get attached to a mortal, you're going to suffer." She objected softly. It didn't sound like she was trying to tear us apart or something. "She's a mortal, while you're I-M mortal." She added.
"You fell in love with a mortal too, in fact you married him." He rebutted back. Damn this girl's a huge hypocrite.
"Hey leave him out of this!" She shouted in a defensive manner. "Besides, you are aware of the situation I'm in. Jack, how do you think would she feel if you were gone for a long time? You do also have to do your duties as a guardian, which makes your schedule pretty hectic. She'll probably find another lover while you were gone."
"That won't happen! I'll make sure I see her twice a week!" He snapped.
"Twice a week? I don't think that's a promise you can keep." She replied sarcastically. I tried to sneak a peek and Flora's face was full of sarcasm while Jack's face depicted worry. They were no longer close to each other(Thank God, I don't think Flora has interest in him.. Anymore).
"You'll forget about her. Just like when you forgot me."
"I didn't forget about you. You left me." He restated.
"That's a regret I'll never be able to bury. But I no longer fancy you, Mr. Frost." She revealed casually. "The point is, date someone who's just like you, immortal." She advised.
An unbearable amount of silence entered the scene. I was too afraid they were doing 'something' so I took a quick peek and, thankfully, they were NOT kissing. Jack was staring at the ground with his arms crossed, as if he was thinking something while Flora was just staring at him, probably waiting for him to say something.
"I..I-I need to rest." He trailed off on to the end of the hallway. Flora then faced to the opposite side of the hallway, where I can quickly be seen because I am in the intersection between these hallways. There weren't any doors near me so I dashed to the middle of the hallway and started walking, to seem like I wasn't eavesdropping on them.
I walked slowly and waited for her to appear in my sight. As soon as Flora noticed me, she raised a brow and smiled evilly. I gulped as she dashed towards me.
